The wife and I are coming to Adelaide for the TDU and bringing our bikes.
We have entered the Ride Like Crazy and Bupa rides and were wondering about gradients on the climbs.
The climb out of Adelaide in the Ride Like Crazy looks like it will be a bit of a test. The Bupa has the KOM at Sellicks Hill and lists the climb as Grade 2 at an average gradient of only 2.5% so it must have some much steeper sections.
We both climb pretty well but I'm thinking an 11 - 28 cassette might be the go.
Having never been to Adelaide before we reckon this will be a great way to see some of the country side.
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Yes, you'll see some great country. I would recommend a 28 tooth on the back. There are a few steep hills on both routes as far as I know. The Corkscrew option on the Ride Like Crazy ride takes you up a steep climb which you may have seen on previous TDU stages. Not the steepest climb around but it's tough, especially after a longish ride.
