Getting from Victor Harbor to Miningie

Postby k8 » Fri Feb 10, 2017 5:35 pm

Hey! Just wondering if it is possible to cycle along the coast from Victor Harbor to Miningie. Google seems to think it is possible, but I am a bit skeptical. If anyone has cycled here before please let me know!

(The map I linked seems to open with driving directions, but if you switch it to cycling it goes along the coast.)

A few years ago I was planning a route and had the same question.

I believe the route shown by Google Maps crosses the Murray River via the Goolwa Barrages.

I emailed the local tourist authority but they replied that the barrages are not open to public access.

There is another thread here which gives the same answer, and also GJ Coop confirmed it on his website.

And the Coorong NP map makes it pretty clear also.

Such a pity - it looks like it would be a lovely ride and would save a lot of time/distance.

Can't be done unfortunately. You'll have to take the scenic route around the lakes.
Kuota Kharma, Fuji Altamira, mongrel of an Orbea TT bike and an MTB thingy.
