Hi
I have scored a job in the nations capital, and have left the comfort & warmth of the red centre to be a workerbee in Russell.
Have been looking for possible places to live, and within my budget. One location is Jerrabomberra. My dilemma is that I would like to ride my bike to work, and have been scouring the interweb to find cycle paths/routes that would make this possible. But to no avail. Prefer to stay away from main roads, because of the safety and noise factor, but if needs must then....
So my post is really to ask if you have any suggestions. I currently ride a trek 7.5FX flatbar, or a Defy road bike, so mostly formed paths would be better, but not critical, as there is always an option for N+1 bikes, isn't there.
cheers

there is a bike/share path that runs all the way from Qtown to Kingston along Canberra Ave then Wentworth Ave. From there you can cross the bridge into Russell

Thanks Skull.
Looking up on google maps and then doing the street view shows the path/cycleway. When I get there I will give it a ride.
Have you ridden it?
May I ask what the ride around the lake is like? The big carp pool. Just thinking of rides with my lovely wife on the weekends. It that or I will be press ganged into long walks.
cheers

Is Pailligo Rd another option if looking to mix it up?

Yes, it is good for getting out and back from Q town and avoids you having to ride on Canberra Ave.V17L wrote: Have you ridden it?
It can get a bit busy at times but I've done it quite a few times and is a nice ride.V17L wrote: May I ask what the ride around the lake is like? The big carp pool. Just thinking of rides with my lovely wife on the weekends. It that or I will be press ganged into long walks.

Pialligo Ave is ok, there is a slight rise coming out of Qtown, it also might be a bit too busy at that time when commuting in and out. I've ridden along there but only early weekend mornings. I also avoid Morsehead drive and stick to the share path along that section past RMC.

There's also Jerri to Q and park up in the bike cage (changing room available with card access but no shower) then bus in to work.
There is a shower close by in the toilet block next to the public oval.
Train option would be u-rail at station or walk / bus from the bike cage / bus station. Bike on train would need to be in a bike bag or box.
