PBs for me!

PBs for me!

Postby Bantam Roosta » Thu Sep 10, 2009 9:33 am

Yesterday was a cracker for me. Got to work in 28 minutes (~15kms at 32.75km/h), first time I cracked the 30 minute barrier. Lights helped a bit, only got stopped at one set and slowed down at 2 others.

Then on my way home I hit Mt Ainslie and did it in 12:54. Fastest time yet, starting to get some groove back. Then to top it off, I hit 67km/h on the way down. The fastest I've been since I got my new bike. I'm slowly starting to get some more confidence up, but still don't feel comfortable at those speeds.

I'm yet to go under 13 minutes to climb Mt Ainslie, but I did manage to hit 82km/h on the way down a couple of weeks ago. And at that point thoughts along the lines of "gee...I wonder what would happen if a kangaroo jumped out right now?" popped into my head so I sat up nice and tall and hit the air brakes.

Well done BR on the PB!

PB up Black Mtn this arvo, 13:51 (previous PB was 14:21) . Helped that I had my previous best effort on a little note taped to my handlebar. Knowing the average I had to maintain helped me smash it home towards the top :).

Tomorrow is Mt Ainslie. Current PB is 13:10 so hope to go sub 13

One of these days I'll have the spare time to climb hills again. :(
I ride, therefore I am.

Fark! Next time I'm in Canberra I'll keep quiet about my times climbing Black Mtn, I'm getting pwned

On Fire

Postby Bantam Roosta » Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:14 pm

Wow, I'm pretty stoked now. Went up Mt Ainslie again after work today and felt ok, was spinning well and I thought I could give my PB a nudge. Did I ever! Smashed it by a full minute.

New PB stands at 11:49. As soon as I saw the top at 11:00 there was no way I was going to be denied. I don't know what it was, but I didn't even feel like throwing up this time either. I'm really starting to enjoy my hills again.

My Saturday ride may have helped. We did a cut-down Fitz's practice. From Stromlo, through Cotter/Tidbinbilla, up to the top of Fitz's then back up the Parkway. 107km all up. That felt good too.

Anyway, hopefully some encouragement for all. Practice will bring results.

Well done! I too am training for fitz's and I am finding my pb's are getting lower and lower each week, I try and ride both black mt and ainslie once a week each with a bigger ride on the weekends. Did black mt in just under 13 minutes, though Mt ainslie is still just over 13 minutes. Keen to get better (fitter and thinner  )

Nah, was as shocker actually, like 14+. Mind you i changed my plan and decided to have a crack at the 5peaks so had already done red hill & pleasant +30km on route to Ainslie rather then the hit it with fresh legs. I did a PB up Stromlo at the end thou (after Black Mtn + the above), got to the speed hump (AT) 12.05. Helped as I had some mice to chase down further up the road

Planning to hit Ainslie either Wed or Thur after work. Should be a nice 10km warm-up from work to the base of Ainslie so hope to give it a good crack with fresh legs.
