Rockviewau: Def try hit the 65km AGF ride. The extra distance will motivate you over the next few weeks to get out more and put more Km in your legs, plus it will be a great achievement if you can do it.

Also yesterday did a 50km ride over to LBG and back. Did a sub 38min around LBG which was ok, i always aim for sub 40min. Having not ridden for 9days though i felt a bit rusty, unlike today's effort .

Was planning to do the Uriarra Loop but stopped when i saw the road closed sign.
Rode the Coppin Crossing instead and head back to City then went out to Eagle Hawkes for a quick ride in 1.5 hours.

Edit: Just looked at the stats for this weeks 4 rides & everyone has averaged 28.8km/h. How's that for consistent

102km - 3:45.48 - 27.1km/h avg
Home - Stromlo - 2 x Uriarra/Cotter Loop - Woden - Home
Uriarra loop was brilliant first time, lots of cyclists out and about. 2nd lap was a bit quieter (late morning) but still a nice ride. Happy I did 2 laps as now I know I can do the 110km for the Amy Gillett Ride. 1st lap I was the cat as there was another cyclist about 1min ahead going around the same pace so was a good target. Eventually caught him on the hill behind Cotter. 2nd Lap I was the mouse as had a guy bearing down on me, made me push it up the hill which was good and he passed me at the cotter pumping station. Last climb out of Cotter was a bit of a grind but got their eventually. Pretty happy with my average as well given the nature of the ride.
Edit: Just had a look at todays ride in SportTracks. 1st Lap = 1:19:17, 2nd Lap = 1:19:30. Very surprised that there was only 13seconds between the 2 laps

The first was a low speed over the handlebars job as my front wheel got caught on a rock coming out of a little dip . Should have done more to lift the bars - oh well. Then about ten minutes later I was blasting along some slightly down hill single track when I manged to time my pedal downstroke perfectly as I was passing a small stump - unintended MTB aerials . Thankfully the landing was pretty soft - though the sound was pretty impressive, apparently.
The damage: a bit of knee blood, a sore shoulder and right thigh, and one crunched right SLX gear indicator (from the first crash).
Think I'll ride the roadie tomorrow

This one looks good. I've gotta join one of these rides one day, I do sometimes tire of riding by myself. Doy you need a proper roadie? Do people get laughed out of town showing up on flat bars?yyeric wrote:If you can wake up very very early, here is an option for you on Friday morning.
Friday Morning 6AM meeting at ANU Union (near Purple Pickle cafe).
Route: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/australia ... 2257051595 including hills to Red Hill Lookout
People will get divided into groups. fast, intermediate, 2nd intermediate. You can pick the bunch that suits your pace and condition.
Usually finish just after 7AM for the intermediate group, leaving you enough time to either have a big breakfast with the bunch or, if you live nearby, get home for shower and head out for work feeling fresher than ever.

i did mawson - woden - scrivener - belco (inc ginnenderra loop) - lost around kaleen - Found AIS - city - Central LBG loop - back to woden turn off near scrivener - woden - home - bath - couch
65.4kms in 3hr 15mins meaning 20.1km/h
im prety impressed with myself.... the 2nd 20kms was my fastest, took about 54mins, which is good for me.
atleast i know what 65kms feels like for when i do the AGF ride in a few weeks,..... that ride will just have more hills....

I would recommend you give Stromlo - Cotter & back a run before the AGF ride. Its less than 10km (one way so 20km return) and will def set you up nicely for the AGF.

Today:
Uriarra/Cotter with Eric and HAKS, plus a little bit on the end to get home, plus a trip to the bowls club and back
103 Km
26.9 Km/h (and I was sitting above 27 for so long too )
3:49 Total Time
72 Km/h Max speed
I think bowls may have suffered this arvo, but totally worth it
