Yeah, you passed us as we sat up and waited for the slowbies just past Spence shops and I said hi as you passed. Then I said hi again on Owen Dixon. Obviously not loud enough...

I'd just said "morning" as I passed, so a reply wasn't unexpected. And I suck at recognising people in the dark anyway. And on the downhill, all I can hear is wind noise. I was a bit surprised when I got passed, I was only expecting two riders.

Please accept my apologies anyway. And good luck for Saturday, but the finish should suit you anyway.

Yeah the others joined back on just after you passed. We eased up for a fair bit having demolished them coming up from gin dr. Good tt training after the main climb to stay away without being caught.

No probs. just wasn't sure you recognised the cheerio.

A bit sick right now so 50/50 on racing. Have heard the final climb is still considered a sprinters finish. If I race I won't be pulling big turns or mounting breakaways so the sprint might have to be my only hope. Choose wheels carefully. You racing?

Well braved the cold and fatigue this morning only to somehow drop $50 and a couple of coffee cards out of my pouch.

Still have the pouch as that stayed in my pocket

Got myself a glass puncture beside LBG this arvo.

Out of 10 riders that went by, only one asked if i needed help, so thanks man.

Finally arrived at my cold dark house.

I often ask riders if they want help but since none of them have ever said "yes" (apart from one guy with blood all over his face and a destroyed bike), it's not surprising if people don't check you out. A couple of times recently I stopped to re-stow gear and people asked if I was OK.

BTW if anyone was yelled at by a guy in a blue Subaru wagon this evening on the way out to Belconnen, it was not abuse but me on my way to pick up and bike and trying to say that your tail light was virtually dead.

I passed four riders on the road; one with a single blinky hidden from most angles by panniers, the guy with the dead light, one guy with a very visible one, and one guy with nothing. Brave souls!

Last time I asked someone if he was O.K., I suddenly realised that he was taking a pee (shared path near McKellar at night). Good thing I hadn't said "do you need a hand?".

I'm itching to be back on board my bikes. I haven't ridden in 3-4 weeks and have been dealing with some pretty serious asthma. over 2 weeks off work - no music practice no nothing. for about 10 days i could barely get from my lounge to my room.

But things are looking up again - here's to next week (crosses fingers)...

I saw two groups of riders out on the Federal Hwy heading towards Lake George on Sunday morning around 10am. Which bunch ride is this and where is the ride from/to? What is the average riding speed of the two groups?

Probably Vikings Cycling Club paceline bunches, fast bunch average speed was about 32/33kmh (it was pretty windy) and I think medium bunch was more like 27/28kmh. Heads out to lake G and back, fasties include shingle hill, focus is on smooth paceline work rather than smashfest. I'm not a club member so I'm not comfortable handing out invites but I'm sure you would be welcome, just send someone at the club an email and they'll give you the details (you may need to have a CA licence for insurance purposes, not sure). They are a very friendly bunch!

Post on the Vikings forums if you're keen on joining. They meet at 9am at the ANU and then roll from there starting the paceline at the Fed highway. They are advertised in the public forum section so pretty sure they are happy for anyone to come along. I did it last week and it was a great ride. Aim to do them each fortnight now.

Lots of people out this morning, big turnout to the Vikings Norman ride and it looked like big turnouts to a number of other bunch rides, I must have seen a hundred other riders on Mugga Way! Where was everyone over winter?! Hibernating I guess.

Lots of people at the Bilbys bunch this morning, biggest turnout I've seen in a long time! It made for a fast ride, but it sure wasn't a smooth ride, I think people's bunch riding skills are a little rusty after a bit of a winter layoff. Good to see a lot of people out there though, and the weather is great at the moment!

Looks like it would have been a good op to take a few less turns in fast bunch. I opted for ainslie repeats and got to coffee at 7:20.

Wish I could be out in this weather. Instead riding out a few weeks off with a fractured rib

I did 3 years ago in a stack off a horse into a gate at full pelt. you never realise how much it hurts to cough, breath, burp or even fart...

Just recovered from 3 broken ribs. I just kept riding where and to the level the pain allowed. High intensity was out, but the rest was ok.

Came down in the wet on Sun morning about a 1km from home. Thought it was only scraps and bruises but by Tues morning they had all gone away but my chest was killing me. Had Xrays and confirmed a fracture. Doc said about 3weeks off due to the location of the fracture. I did actually go MTBing on Mon night and it felt fine but will give it a rest. On holidays next week anyway and this will give me a good chance to clean the bike, straighten up the shifter and heat mould my new shoes

bloody windy out there today - I was riding towards the city and along past Lennox Gardens and up and over CW bridge I was blowing round all over the road.

Civic to Belco this morning - holding 400W into the wind on the TT bike... only 34Kph.

Ah, yeah it was pretty tough. I was Watson to Belco in a headwind, on a roadie with TT bars and averaged 32.5 up through Aranda and Cook.. Home with the wind (tail and cross tail) was more like 38!
