SFP to Tidbinbilla Tracking Station to Tuggers on 10th April

Meeting location: Traffic light on the junction of Cotter Road and Streeton Drive.

Route: Cotter - Uriarra Crossing - Cotter Reserve - Tidbinbilla Tracking Station - Tuggeranong - Yarralumla (See Google Map for direction)

Distance: 95km

Date/Time: 10th April 8:30AM

Pace: averaged at 25km/h

Stopping (AT) (1) Uriarra Homeshed, (2) Tracking Station, (3) Tuggeranong .

This can be a good prep for those interested in Audax ride "Stairway to Corin 100/150" on 29th May.

People usually ride in their bike from home, don't they?

If this is the case, we don't need to finish off at where we start.

Hence the revised route to incorporate Tugger as a stop.

I myself will be heading back to the north side via Athlon Drive and Adelaide Avenue and Yarralumla.

Paddy Rivers Road is undulating and you will love it. won't get any harder than Uriarra Crossing. Some short hills when we climb out of Cotter Reserve though.

i might do sections of this ride... start at SFP - cut out the uriarra bit and go straight down cotter road... that way u can overtake me on tidbinbilla road and then head back to SFP. I only ride at about 20-22 kms/hr and am not up for the 95 kms yet, so if anyone wants to join me on this amended route, let me know....

or if my mate comes down from sydney this weekend i could get drunk and just sleep sunday!!

rockviewau (I will also send a PM) I will ride with you via the amended route, with the slight disclaimer that I have no idea whether I will be able to get up Pierces Ck hill on my current gearing (I can make it up the wall on the W side of Uriarra Xing but that is much shorter). Or maybe it's my legs/weight that is the problem? Anyhoo... The last time I rode there was many years ago on my old roadie which had a triple chain ring. I have not done a bunch ride for some time and I am liking the sound of 20-22km/h .

I would probably prefer to do a loop over Point Hutt Xing and back to Weston Ck via the bakery at Tuggers instead of out-and-back because descending Pierces Ck hill freaks me out even more than going up it. It is 54km from the start to Tuggers via the Cotter and Point Hutt, the loop is 65km all up.

I noticed the ride to Lake George had the same av speed as is predicted for this ride which is a ton more hilly.

I must go out and check the cut I noticed in my front tyre yesterday...

There's a 'race sim' happening Saturday arvo from SFP out to Condor Creek (end of bitumen) and return to SFP if you want a good hitout, mrgolf. It's training for upcoming Canberra Tour. It's a handicap and first riders leave SFP at 1.15pm, so you would need to get out there half an hour or so before hand to put your name down.

What could be better on your birthday than smashing it up the three sisters?!

That would be a good ride but now as it turns out I have a minor medical issue which will probably keep me off my roadie for a few days... Grrr... At least its school holidays, so I can have a few big hitout rides. My April cycling goal will be easily achievable despite my ailment....

We chased hard to try and catch Lucus & Steph at the end but to no avail . Crosswind coming out of the tracking station on the downhill run was also not welcome
