Okay, I got swooped on (first time this year). Basically the corner of Melrose and Hindmarsh, the bike path that cuts the corner through the trees, heading from Hindmarsh around to the left en route to the city. Same spot as last year, golly. I think I heard a few snaps but it didn't make contact.

New one for me - Ginninderra drive between Coulter and Copland. I'm normally flying down there, but I slowed to turn right at Copland and discovered a maggie near my head when I looked over my shoulder. Which sucks, because that's the only route home which didn't have winged terrors last year.
I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.

4 bumps on my lid today from the fiesty little one on the athllon drive bikepath just north of the wanniassa shops roundabout - between wanniassa shops and sulwood drive. he got me once the other day but doesn't get me on the way home. mind you, on the uphill direction maybe i'm taking too long to get out of his space.

i put the arm up and rode for another 100 or so metres and thought i was safe. wrong... as soon as my arm went down he bombed again.

5 for me today, new PB

Swoops were:

1: Launceston St Lyons just past the shops
2: Glenloch Interchange just after leaving the lake path, after the tunnels and heading towards Cook
3: Just over the top of the bike path (Bindubi st) as you start going between housing in Cook
4: Along Dryandra St Lyneham
5: Along Menindee Drive down (AT) the Lake, east basin, the road section between the bike path and the hospice.

Lyons: Devonport St heading SE between Scottsdale St & Derwant St. Saw it coming then could keep an eye via my shadow, but still had a good 4 attempts.

Another persistent beggar at Acton between the boat hire and the National Museum on the bike path. Tried swooping the helmet but I have cable ties (I figure I look a goose in a helmet anyway) and when that was not successful, went for my back about 5 times. I just got rid of him and there was another one just near the kiosk. This chap knew he was on hiding to nowhere though as there were so many people about that he couldn't decide who to attack!

Weird. I haven't even heard a wing flap over my head. Yet.

Hi Guys,

I was on the climb out of Uriarra towards stromlo and got tag teamed bu two of them. It was towards the end of the loop and I didn't even bother speeding up. I figured a beak in the eyeball would hut less than my legs and lungs at the time anyway :)

Hullooo. I tried feeding my guy this morning. Pulled up, held out the sausage, no dice. He flew to the ground and glared at me. I tried to make conversation with it, threw it some meat, complimented it on its fine feathers. Yeah. He was pretty pissed off. Eventually we agreed to disagree and he swooped and snapped me off and I said SEE YOU TOMORRA :D :|

Found one riding up the hill on Lanyon drive towards the Jerra roundabout. Some nice motorist tried to beep his horn, not sure whether it was to warn me or ward of the magpie or both. Very slight contact but otherwise no damage done, and now I know where he lives. Plus side was it was the only one on the route into work, at least the only one that got me today

I've ridden past that area twice in the last two weeks (three times if you count the fact I did two laps) and he's left me alone. Maybe the eyes are working

Did 2 laps on Thursday, left me alone the first time, about 6 attempts the second. Must think it's got a huge territory as I was fairly moving

I thought it might be the end of Magpie swooping season as I haven't been swooped in a couple of weeks. For those of you who ride through the Woden area you will all know about the SUPER agressive bird that lives just off the cnr of Hindmarsh and Melrose Drive. Well I thought I'd try my luck and ride that way home as it allows me to avoid the lights. Well... For that Magpie, swooping season is definately not over

That bird is soo agressive I had to get off my bike and walk through, and every time I looked away to see where I was going, he made an attempt.
