Petrol station in Belconnen for air

Petrol station in Belconnen for air

Postby LoveB » Sun Aug 22, 2010 8:38 pm

Can anyone suggest a petrol station in Belconnen with an air pump safe for a bike? I was thinking of the one beside the post office, the shell one as the pump only works when you squeeze the trigger.

Or are the automated ones safe for a mountain bike tyre? Just dont want to risk blowing the tyre up. Cant get a bike pump till next week and I really want to ride out this week! thanks guys!

I'm sure the nice folk (AT) Onya Belco would be more then happy to lend you a pump for all of 1min to get the job done.

The automated ones will be fine for MTB, they only go up to a maximum pressure of 60psi anyway. Probably safer than the manual ones that you squeeze the trigger.

You will be very lucky (or unlucky) to find a service station compressor that will exceed 80 PSI most of them will peak out at around the 60 mark, other than that it is the same as pumping up a car tyre (only faster) it is upto the person controlling the handpiece to regulate the pressure with the trigger.

The hand operated one near the post office worked fine for me. Got it up to 40 no dramas. Just have to do it in short bursts.

How have you been Neil? :)
