Re: Northbourne Ave collisionI usually consider NB Ave the safest part of my commute at around that time. Traffic moves slow, nice wide cycling lane etc.
Well together with this, and almost being cleaned up by a car this morning myself only 10mins before this accident... Stay forever vigilant people and exercise defensive cycling (read not aggressive - but defensive). Whoever the person is, hope they make it.
Re: Northbourne Ave collisionConsidering I ride this way to work I know there are only two options as to what happened:
1. Some idiot car driver pulled into the cycle lane well before Swindon Street and ran the cyclist down. 2. The traffic was banked up (but not in) the 'keep clear' part of NB where it meets Swindon, and a car has turned right into Swindon just as the cyclist got to that part of the road. Really easy to be hitting 40+ km/h at that point too. If this is what happened then it's really unfortunate for all involved because that's a really dangerous section on account of terrible visibility for both cars and bikes. Let's hope this has a happy ending.

Excellant advice
Re: Northbourne Ave collisionJust to let you know i only had head injuries no breaks though I am getting better now just concentration and train of thought a little affected.
Now just sorting out the third party insurance to cover the medical costs. My bike is split in two and will need to get a new one in but a month.
Re: Northbourne Ave collisionGosh Cal - glad to know you're still alive and improving.
