Hey guys,
My first post in these forums. Woo!
Just moved to Canberra and have been to stromlo once or twice. Dam I love it!
My only problem with the place is i have no idea which way is the fastest/easiest way up.
Last time I went straight to the right and past home view junction on the firetrail. And then up the track marked in blue on this map.

How do you get to the top?

Follow the Green trail up ABC switch backs. That the easy way.

Follow the sign posts to learn the different trails then you can join them together to make your own ride

I know theberm website has lots of different rides out there.

I get to the top by riding along cotter road until the turn off to the observatory and following the black strip up to the top, from their I follow it back down again and then rinse and repeat a few times. It is the most direct and fastest way up on a bike - though I can get up quicker in the V8.

ah ur a smart ass Neil,
but I find the best way to get to the top quickly is via helicopter.... those mtb trails look too hard!!! Good luck with them tho!

All right, will try ABC switchbacks on thursday morning. Give my new contour a run as well! Sounds like a winner!
Thanks for the help. Theberm website seems pretty dead for ACT???

Nah I would smash you up there, you would have to fix at least two punctures on the way up in the car. :D A friend had a cooper S and not the BMW bloat version an original 1275 GT Lotus engined mini cooper. Man did that get up Stromlo quick.

Dunno.... 1095kg and ~160Kw at the wheels makes for rapid progress.

But you are probably right about the punctures.

Stromlo road is pretty narrow for a car to be going at warp speed (though it doesn't seem to stop some of the tradies heading to work up there at 6am  ) plus too many latte sucking lycra clad cyclists use that road. An old worked up Mini could be the fastest.

Happy Birthday for yesterday Twizzle!
