The last year I did I was in the top third and they ran out of water by the time that I hit the end of the tar, none at the top of Fitz's, honeysuckle or Corin.
Was left with using rain water tanks till tharwa in 25-30C temps.
Never been back

That was what I was lead to believe last year but it proved to be far from it.jcjordan wrote:Have they improved the organisation or is it still in effect a unsupported ride?

I was the last through a lot of the check points near the end and they were virtually throwing food at me to get rid of it.

And well I cracked and told the check point I was giving up and going home, they got me to stay there and fed me up then got a support vehicle to collect me and take me back to SFP.

Same here. Best value and organised ride I've done. Lots of great smiling volunteers (really helps to keep going through the hilly kms!), food, energy drinks, and the bbq at the end was a God-send! Snag sanger really hit the spot. I'll be back this yearskull wrote:same I was offered more food than I knew what to do with.

I also have unfinished business with the Extreme froma couple years ago...
And I haven't ridden any real distance for several months.
So tempted to sign up again...

Last year it was about 4C at the 6am start, but fine, and it was fine all day with a max of ~21C. The 6am starters with summer gloves or no gloves suffered for the first hour or so, but were OK after that. If you were doing a 7am or later start you'd probably be fine.warthog1 wrote:What sort of weather are we looking at on average in Canberra at the end of October?

IIRC on the 205 km Epic, I used arm warmers and summer gloves (my hands were very cold on the descent to Cotter Dam, but warmed up on the 9% heartstarter after that) but I had no shoe covers or leg warmers, I had a merino base layer, and shoved two bits of newspaper down my jersey, which I took out at the top of Apollo/Honeysuckle.
A cold snap or wet weather would obviously change this.

On the 255, it was freezing at the start but the arm warmers and liner gloves came off before the first checkpoint.

To build on mrgolf's post, it's referring to a 10% discount for members of Pedal Power ACT, which organises the event (http://pedalpower.org.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). This is stated near the top of the page that comes up when you click on "Registration now open" near the top of the RHS column of the event home page http://www.fitzs.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (direct links can't be given for other pages on this site).danny the boy wrote:..It's already cheap but on the entry fee section there is a lower price for members, Is this CA silver members or something else?
