Hey BNA,
I'm new to the forums, but I stumbled on a related post and thought it was worth throwing this out here.
I am the coordinator for Canberra Cycle Share a FREE workshop where we help people fix and maintain their own bikes. We have tools, salvaged parts and expertise all available for free to help you address your bike's mechanical troubles. We've been meeting every Wednesday from 4-6pm, since April 2013 and are adding a meeting on the first Saturday of every month at the Gorman Markets, starting December 7.
This is open to anyone and has served members from varried communities within Canberra, so please don't be bashful. Meetings are extremely informal, require no RSVP and you are welcome to come-and-go as you please.
If you want more information, check out the facebook page or contact me.

Hey BNA
Just an update: CycleJam is still going strong after more than 2 years!
CycleJam is all about helping you work on your bicycle. From fixing flats to building a wheel, we’re building knowledge within our community on how to fix and maintain your own bicycles using salvaged parts from the tip.
CycleJam is located in New Acton, on ANU's campus, next to the Canberra Environment Centre. It is situated before the roundabout leading to the National Museum of Australia. The drive-way is shared with the Environmental Centre.
Jams:
Wednesdays, 4-7pm (AT) Canberra Environment Centre
First Friday, 4-6 pm (AT) Dickson Library
Third Monday, 6-8 pm (AT) Woden Library
As demand grows we hope to expand hours and reach out to other community members by holding meetings in different locations.
We are also always on the look out for facilitators to help people fix bikes at our jams. If you know a thing or two about bikes and would like to help out, feel free to get in touch at jam@cyclejam.org, or come along to one of our jams.
