The Capital Criss Cross 200KM is on this coming Saturday (30 November). The route has been modified slightly from previous years,
but maintains the vibe of the original ride in visiting some of the best and iconic roads and villages we all know and lovel from cycling
in the immediate north of Canberra. Great ride for people new to Audax, lots of bail out options and all pretty close to Canberra.
Please let me know your intention to ride this event by 7:30PM Thursday 28th.
The ride starts in the city, loops through Ainslie, Gungahlin, the newly paved Mulligans Flat Rd and East Tallagrandra Ln, Sutton,
Wamboin, and Bungendore (65km) for the first potential social coffee stop. From there back over the Gap, the old Federal H'way out to Lake George to check on the water level, then the quick run along Shingle Hill Way and into Gundaroo (115km). Chance for another coffee or just to restock supplies. We head across Murrumbateman Rd all the way to the Barton H'way for a quick loop in Murrumbateman (145km) and then head back to Canberra via Nanima Rd and Hall.
The route on ridewithgps: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3690302 is not quite finalised, but will be by Wednesday, expect small tweaks - nothing major, but I will improve the cue sheet.
The ride starts outside Lonsdale St Roasters (Number 7, Lonsdale St, Braddon) at 6:30am, Sat 30 November. There are no lighting
requirements as the entire ride runs between sunrise/sunset, but make your own assessment on safety. On street parking is available within a few streets of Lonsdale St, don't park on Lonsdale St or you will likely be booked (parking rules there have changed of late).
Please arrive 10 minutes early (6:20am) to allow for paperwork. Cost is $16 for non-members or $6 for Audax members or members of Cycling Australia (CA members will need to present a valid card on the morning).
Please bring a completed ride form and cash on the day:
On the day I will provide a map, cue sheet, brevet and plastic bag to keep it all dry.
Audax rules which apply to the ride:
Just FYI Lonsdale St Roasters opens at 6:30am.
