Thousands of people of the reefs this morning - Marmion

What was being caught there this morning.? There were swarms of people on the reefs, resulting in lots of people carrying their catches on the dual-use path. Be wary if you are planning riding the beach dual-use path today.

Found an on-line article indicating it may be abalone where this is a one hour limit for 5 Sunday mornings. These people must be keen if that was what they were after.

Yep, it's the Abalone season all right! Be careful on the roads as a fair few of them (and not all to be fair!) have scant regard to safe parking or driving! Ocean Reef Road loses a fair chunk of it's bike lane nr Iluka / Ocean Reef.
