Perth Wheel hazard

Few days ago I filed a hazard report regarding the increased collision potential between pedestrian and cyclists caused by the Perth Wheel. I have since had two responses, one acknowledging the lodgment of the report and one to say that it has been forwarded to the appropriate council for consideration. I suggested that an alternative psp be installed on the north side of the wheel to take traffic away from the entrance/exit of the Wheel.

If you share my concerns please use the link above to lodge a similar report.

Another misguided attempt by Perth to overcome the dullsville image. But good luck with government thats not going to hit anyone's desk until after they realise what an absurd waste of money it is.
To show my support though, i lodged one too.

Jayiz,

I support your sentiments (ie that it's a waste and an eyesore) but it's a private business venture: the govt. didn't install it. They only gave the company approval to erect it.

Les, I agree that it's a hazard, but I haven't ridden on the path since it was erected, so I can't put in a report in good faith. I have driven past it though and thought the same as you.

Cheers,
Graeme

Yeah putting the wheel right in front of a busy dual use pathway isn't the smartest thing in the world.

Especially when the pedestrians decide it's a good idea to stop on the path and gawk at the pathetic attempt at a landmark.

Mmm.. maybe someone should shove a telegraph pole through the spokes of the silly great thing when it's spinning.

Or maybe... I wonder if I could get in contact with the owner of that Staffy that t-boned my back wheel at speed some years ago along the Mill Point Road shared path.

thinking thinking thinking...
