Any Interest in a Saturday Forum Ride?
Postby Aushiker » Wed Jan 28, 2009 2:39 pm
It has been awhile since we had a Saturday morning forum ride so thought I would sound out the populace.
Any interest in a ride? Suggestions for dates? Where?
Andrew

Off-road shortcuts? I need to proof my renovated tourer somewhere.Caelum wrote:I'm moderately keen, so long as me putting along on my Surly LHT isn't going to aggrivate those wanting to keep a higher pace!
I'll have to wire up my speedo to my LHT, see what speed i am normally averaging...

I'm also keen to do a MTB ride, but I'll treat that as a separate discipline, since I assume you're talking about a road ride Andrew.
Cheers,
Graeme

I've taken the LHT slightly off-road... Away from the trails and into some sandy/grassy land... didn't handle too badly!ajh_ausnzcf wrote:Off-road shortcuts? also as for MTB suggestions, heres a ride I used to do with about 5 other people about 2 years ago. Havent done it in ages.

we would leave on a sunday afternoon around 5:30 get to little caesars around 6:45 .. but you gotta phone them 45 minutes before you get there, to secure an order, since they are so damn busy. Ride back down the otherside of the highway, following the path. Normally arrive back at the carpark by about 8pm or so, depending on punctures. You'll also need decent highpowered lights for this ride, as there is no street lighting (duh?) and small LEDs are useless.

Downside is it's the long weekend.
Upside is that there is no racing or other events scheduled.
Another upside is that Cavebear surely wont be able to rip our legs off after the 400km Audax ride the day before. He'll need a recovery ride though
EDIT :- Doh !! Didn't read the Saturday bit... Apologies.

I am out for Sunday rides but if someone wants to organise it please go for it. Better to have a ride than not.

Well as there has been no suggested rides or dates I will go with the following if there is any interest:
Proposed Dates (All are Saturdays):
February 1, 2009
February 14, 2009
February 28, 2009
Please state your preference so we can narrow this down.
Start time: 7:00 AM under the narrows at South Perth or 6:00 AM for those wanting to start in Fremantle and with meet up points arranged if anyone interested on the way to the Narrows.
Ride: Fremantle to Narrows via south of the river (depending on who is coming) and then back to Fremantle via Nedlands/Cottesloe/West Coast Highway to L2 for coffee and then those heading back to the City can choose their route.
Regards
Andrew

Hate to break the bad news to you Andrew, but February 1 is a Sunday. Can we assume you mean Feb 7?Aushiker wrote:

Based on the assumption being correct I can do the 7th, but not the others, however it'd be good if this became regular so just kick off with the most popular date.Kalgrm wrote:Hate to break the bad news to you Andrew, but February 1 is a Sunday. Can we assume you mean Feb 7?Aushiker wrote:

Well it can be the 7th, just takes someone to organise it or the group to run with it. Doesn't have to me or Graeme who have done them in the past.ScottDavis wrote:Based on the assumption being correct I can do the 7th, but not the others, however it'd be good if this became regular so just kick off with the most popular date.
