Mount Henry Bridge - Blocked Off
Postby roller » Sat Feb 07, 2009 11:22 am
Anyone know how long this is going to go on for?
I really have no idea what they're doing to it, looks pretty bridge-worthy to me.
but you can't pass through it and have to turn back and retrace your steps if you've come from the raffles or the east side of canning bridge.

They are fixing up the eroded river bank on the eastern side of the Canning. The need to rip up the bike path to do it, and there is no way around their work area (river one side, freeway the other). The only places to set detours are at the bridges (Mt Henry and Canning Hwy).
I don't know how long it will be closed for.
Cheers,
Graeme

Cbf,
It's not the bridge that's closed - that's just where they've installed the detour.
You would skirt around the closed section by riding on the western bank of the Canning River from Canning Hwy to the southern end of Mt Henry Bridge, adding about 700m to your ride each way.
Cheers,
Graeme

you mean the western bank yeah?
ie: if you're coming down the freeway bike path south, cross over to the west side of the river (AT) canning bridge & continue journey down the esplanade & join up the bike path at the sound end of mt henry bridge

Seems to be lots of guessing in this thread.
Aushiker already gave all the good info (complete with map) here.

Thanks for the heads up. I was heading down that way on the weekend, so I'll keep it in mind.
