I may wait until the profiles have been put up before I make a decision. My HRM gave a start when I was looking at the map - I know Mundaring Weir road - fantastic on a motorbike, but bound to be lethal on the pedalled variety. I'm not discounting the idea yet though.

I've just booked for the 52km ride (cost $35). If I leave it nearer the time I'll find an excuse not to ride, therefore my attitude is to book it and then develop a training program that prepares you for the challenge ahead!

I've got rellies who live in Lesmurdie and from memory the course is approx 13km downhill,(reach Mundaring Weir)
13km uphill (reach Mundaring and turn around),
13km downhill,
13km uphill (Finish at Kalamunda)

(Not quite as simple as that but you get my point!)

Time to step up my hill training!

This road is almost lethal on a loaded tourer. I'd never got down to the lowest gear before this road.

This event is too close to bike disassembly time for me. My bike should be in pieces ready for shipping to where there are bigger hills and real mountains by then.

Why pay $50 for a road thats not even closed.

I did it last year and it challenging but not too bad but $50.00 come on.

This is not a charity and everyone is a volunteer so I cant see the cost anywhere.

I dont mind fund raising for the tour de perth but this is getting a little ridiculous.

I was thinking of getting one going it will be called "Tour de Crap"
All you have to do is get a bicycle from the tip and you are the winner if your bicycle makes the distance it will only cost a trip to the tip and a bit of time.
And may be the top winner get a new bicycle..... O then i might have to charge a fee to pay for the new bicycle... mmmmm o well the throught was there....

Didn't ride in the end. In fact I've not ridden for 9 days now since I fell victim to a cold which started last Friday. And it's a "man" cold as well so it's really serious!

Been trying to recover this week but I still needed to work so I've not rested as much as I should have done. Hoping to get back on the bike tomorrow before son's soccer game (9.30am kick off so could do a quick Hilarys return trip).

Sorry to hear that Gary. 9 days...must be a real nasty one. I'm amazed how a cold bug morphs when it hits testosterone (Ned Flanders is in real trouble did I say that )
