water on bike path nr Burswood

Hi guys

riding into work today I had to go through portions of the bike path after the Wyndam Bridge (spelling?) going towards Burswood which was covered in over 8cm of water. So be careful and be prepared to get your feet wet if you go that way.

Have you reported it to DPI? If they get enough feedback they might do something about drainage.

I was going to - then I decided I'd ride home that way since I hate the hill nr Parliament House. Anyway, the water was gone!

I think it must have been a combo of recent rain and a high tide. Drainage would not have been an option - but I will report it to DPI as there is now a lot of debris across the path.

Rode past earlier today and it was covered in water. My shoes are still drying Underneath the Causeway was even worse, I'd say around 15cm of water. Just the heavy rain I think, hopefully should be right soon.

If the water is salt water, then don't ride thru it, even if you have to carry your bike over it.

It's getting pretty bad on that path. Today it is even falling from the sky!

I think that the water level over this and probably other paths near the river is related to 'high water level resulted from a combination of last night's full moon and high tides, a low-pressure system moving in, heavy swell and onshore winds'. So be careful out there!

..... Not to mention the fact that the river will be flowing higher than normal because it's raining (finally).

News.com.au is showing a picture of the bike path I normally commute on. Call me soft if you will, but I'm glad I grabbed a lift in a cage with a workmate yesterday: this is what I faced on my homeward trip had I ridden in yesterday (the bike path is on the left of the left-hand fence as we see it here.)

Took the floaties off the bike a couple of weeks ago and can't find them now.

I didn't ride today because I knew the path would be (and was) covered with seaweed, sand and other marine debris. On the way in I saw them with a bobcat clearing it away, so I'll ride tomorrow.
