Free tickets!

Postby Minority » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:52 am

I have a couple of spare tickets for the international track cycling grand prix this Saturday (20th Nov) at Midvale Speeddome (starts 5pm).

First come, first served, but please don't ask for them if your not sure you are going to use them.

PM me if you want and will use them.

Free Ear Plugs....

Postby Quinns Rocks Roadie » Mon Nov 22, 2010 1:56 am

Thanks to Dave I got there with my Dad in tow Saturday night and watched the big boys (and girls) do some serious racing.
The action was continuous and many of the races were breathtaking in terms of speeds, skills and intensity.
This might even get me back into being involved in amateur/club level racing.
The commentary was as energetic as the riding, but a BIG note to the organizers of this event, the fatiguing ear bleeding sound of the PA system drove us both out of the room and caused us to leave before the last Keiron events.
My father and I are both pro-audio experts and available to sort the problems that for us spoiled an otherwise entertaining and enjoyable evening.
Pleeeease, somebody do something about the sound system !!!!.

Eric,

Agree with you there mate. The PA was quite bad. However, you missed an absolute cracker in the kieren final.
Sunderland came around from 4th or 5th wheel, overtook the germans and took the win by less than half a wheel. Awesome display.

I think most people couldnt believe the size of those two German Riders legs!

It was a great night of Racing - will be going again for sure!
Have to agree regarding the PA - it did get a little grating after a while - temporarily eased for a bit, by a wander around the back of the track. I think the sydney commentator was part of that issue with his high pitched voice, tho he and his mate did do a good job!

Yes, I was keen to see the kieren races but the PA was just too bad to stomach any longer.
I think most people couldnt believe the size of those two German Riders legs!
Some of the girls were not far behind either - thighs the size of my waist :!:
I think the sydney commentator was part of that issue with his high pitched voice, tho he and his mate did do a good job!
I suspect a crook microphone and/or mic preamp and/or gain control set too high and causing overload for the Sydney commentator - the other voice was mostly ok.
That said I found their combined commentary and snippets were excellent... plenty of info and some pretty funny quips throughout.
Thanks to the organizers for an interesting event.

A rolled up bit of tissue stuffed in the ears - that's what I use for concerts. Most places have the sound up twice as loud as it needs to be - like the event after the Great Bike Ride on Sunday. Killed off conversations stone dead, and it looked like everyone left before they could start playing again.
Riding and writing my way to health and happiness.
