What a great day!
Nice and cool and having the roads almost to ourselves was a treat - for me at least.
I did the 1 lap 53 km and started way back in Group S. Managed to catch-up to some guys cruising at a similar speed to me which helped - but boy! it took it out of me doing a lot of dodging/weaving getting past others.
No prangs/nears misses or flats - really enjoyed it and might look to join up to a club to get some more of it.
I am also now a firm believer in those 'powerade' type drinks - amazing the effect it has on your body as it kicks in!
Not sure exactly what time I did but I started at around 7.54am and finish at around 9.33 or abouts (no watch so had to pull out the mobile).
Congrats to all who organised the event.
I think I finished about 2 minutes in front of you then.
I loved the fact that we had the run of the roads for once. I reckon I only stopped once on the whole ride - a stop sign where they were letting the cars go through briefly. It was great being allowed to run red lights and blow stop signs with impunity.
Think outside the double triangle.
Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it ....
Just heard a friend of a guy I work with ended up in the top 5! - av speed of 39Km - that is shifting !!
I'm assuming they will post the results to here:
I was in there about the same time as you guys too. I think I'd have been able to go a bit faster if I started in higher group as I spent 1/2 to 2/3rds of the distance getting through traffic and with all those downhills and corners I didn't want to cause any accidents!
For the last 1/3rd I happened to find a guy on a Giant TCR Advance 2 (orange frame) who was powering through and we kinda worked together with a couple other people that joined on until the end. That part of the race I enjoyed even more cause we were going along at such speed

i did the 2 lap circuit with a mate, was heaps of fun.
we started in group E which broke up into groups of 2 or 3 pretty much from the word go which was a shame. i was looking forward to riding with a bigger group.
on the second lap we stopped for about 25 minutes for coffee & some bananas so i'm not looking forward to checking our time , was good to have the run of the road though ..
i thought the route was good, i really enjoyed the bits around point walter, normal rides we've missed those roads by going up braunton st.
. . will be checking them out again soon i think . .
Check the Ride Kit you have !!!
There should be a small piece of white paper with a small orange sticker attached. The sticker is to identify you as "I want a photo." I'm fairly sure that I was 'snapped' on one of the long straights between Attadale and Applecross? On Wednesday the pics should be able to be seen on Aussiesinaction.com.au. It will pay to get in quick as well. "An 'early bird' discount will apply in the first 10 days of listing on the site. An archival fee will apply to orders of photos more than a month old."
A bit of looking around the website shows pics from the 2006 GBR. 79 pages of 20 pics/page for the Mosman Park hill alone. Add the 8 other pages of locations and there could be a photo or 2 to dig through. They are sorted chronologically so they shouldn't be too hard to find?
I don't know how long before the official results appear on the GBR website? I had a look at the Bluechiptiming website and found the site to be useless (using Firefox, Maxthon and IE7).
Guess we just have to be patient.

Sounds like you all had a great day! I had to miss this year due to only arriving back in Perth in the early hours of Saturday morning and being as jetlagged as hell! (I fell asleep at 7pm on Sat night and didn't wake until 7am on Sunday morning.)
