Critical Mass Perth - 30 November

Guys there is a Critical Mass this Friday 30 November.

All are welcome to come along. Meet at the State Library steps around 6pm.

We usually ride around the city/northbridge, slow paced, and end at the Hydey for $12 steak/fish plus a pint or three.

I've never been to one of these events, mainly because I don't agree with the militancy I hear about on events run overseas. (I'm referring to cyclists abusing drivers, blowing red lights and stop signs, etc)

Can you tell me if that sort of behaviour is common in the Perth ride? I can't make it this Friday anyway (I'll be in Kalgoorlie) but for future reference, I'd like to know. I wouldn't be part of an event which turns drivers against us due to the lawless behaviour of a few.

The road rules are followed - even though the ride is organised by the courier crew ;) I guess the idea is to make people aware of our presence on the road - whether this is an effective method I'm not sure - but it's a bit of fun none the less. So no craziness, except maybe some trick attempts by the fixers.

I had a very interesting read about some of the concerns expressed just now about CM just yesterday.

I'm still under the 10 posts limit to post the direct link; but in case you don't know it - an expatriate pommy frame builder living in the US by the name of Dave Moulton maintains a very well written blog - and he's recently posted on the subject of Critical Mass. Straight after reading it I followed the links but found no reference of any such events in Perth;
