Imperial Century - Sunday 27th Jan 2008 - interest?Anybody up for it? I know it's the day after Australia Day so maybe the timing is not great but I'm away for work the week after and I'll struggle to fit the ride in Feb / March with a few trips planned.
No idea on route at this moment but all suggestions welcome. (My 100km ride is Mindarie - Joondalup - Swan Bells - Bridges - City Beach - back to Mindarie - I could easily include the Kwinana Freeway path to extend to the 162km(?) required but open to suggestions!) Cheers, Gary
Hi Gary
Great idea. Sadly I will have to pass as I will be playing Dad that weekend. Maybe next time. Andrew
I'll register my interest now, but I can't confirm until much closer to the date.

I'll raise my hand as a definite maybe.
Got no idea what is planned for that weekend, but will pencil the ride in. Haven't done a metric century in a day yet, so will see how it pans out on the day. Downhill and/or a tail wind for the ride home would be appreciated if it can be organised. Road - '09 Cervelo S1 | '07 Vivente Lugano | Late 90's Giant Kronos, Dirt - '08 Orbea Sherpa
Re: Imperial Century - Sunday 27th Jan 2008 - interest? Are plans still progressing? I've had a few days out of action with an abscess above a tooth. No fun at all. The tooth will have to be removed sometime soon, so I'm not sure how I will be by the end of this month. A mate of mine is interested in going, so I thought I'd better give this one a bump and see if there are hard and fast plans and what they those plans might be? Hi All,
The ride is still on, I have two options open:- Option 1 (if I ride solo or the only interest is from the Northern suburbs) Route would be:- Mindarie - Joondalup - Swan Bells - Bridges - Kwinana Freeway (30km South / 30km North) - back to Swan Bells then out to City Beach - back to Mindarie via Sunset Coast road Option 2 - happy to meet in a central location e.g. Swan Bells at 6.30am and take it from there - open to suggestions on routes. Happy to take advice from anybody who has done the Imperial Century in Perth previously. (One route would be a Swan Bells start and do the route as per Option 1 but obviously with a Swan Bells start and finish.) Cheers, Gary
Due to a change in work circumstances I won't be able to make the long weekend ride, but look like being free for a ride this weekend. Sunday is the preferred day, but I am reasonably flexible. Any ideas for where and when for a 'this weekend' ride? Road - '09 Cervelo S1 | '07 Vivente Lugano | Late 90's Giant Kronos, Dirt - '08 Orbea Sherpa
Perth to the end of Freeway South (Baldivis) and back is just over 90km. We rode this when we wanted 100kms.
If you stick Perth to Mindarie return on top of that Gary, you'll have your distance. If anyone has lung issues during the ride (like they explode like mine would
Sorry for delay in responding, I'm going to postpone the ride given it's forecast to be 37 C on Sunday. (I forecast the ride would take me 6.5 - 7.5hrs which means a good few hours in midday / afternoon temps).
I'll push out a revised date for Feb / March, if there's still interest then let me know. Cheers, Gary
