"Main Roads WA will be undertaking works on a section of Swan River retaining wall in Como to reduce the severity of the River overflowing on to the adjacent shared path (and the Kwinana Freeway) during storm surge events.
The shared path will be upgraded to meet the current national standards for cycling and pedestrian facilities at the same time"

Bummer - I know it is only a short detour, but the hassle of crossing over the freeway bridges will be a pain.

At least I have an alternative to the "river route" and I think I will be taking that until the work is done.
