The Perth Crits are starting next Friday night. There are 4 nights of racing I've been told.

First one is in Joondalup around the streets - just down the road from my place so I'll definitely be there

(sorry guys - something else I picked up from reading that free local paper )

Perth Crits

I like the Australia Day foreshore Crit idea! Now lets hope no jerk throws stuff onto the track while they are racing some big talent in the fields as well. Lots of promising youngsters, the meyer boys, michael fitzgerald, tomic in the womens race and older heads like hilton mcmurdo, looks to be a great line-up!

Going to the Joondalup crit tonight, I've taken the kids to the Zoo today and they're worn out so they'll be in a great mood to watch the racing!

There was some fast racing tonight. We were near the start/finish line on corner which provided a good view.

Not able to get to the others I'm afraid, but enjoyed tonight (and then dinner at the Keg and Bean - African food...yum!!).

We were on the corner just after the start and finish line. I had the kids sat down on the kerb so they had a great view of the race. We were near the medical tent and it was amazing to see some of the injuries. One of riders had no skin left on one of his arms after a fall - I guess that's the risk you take when you're averaging 50km per hour.

All three races were great to watch. Amazing how that Emma P from GB tore the field apart in the women's race. No wonder she's a British time trial champion.

Yes that lass in the womens race just blew it apart, not even close at all, its always amazing to watch one person just ride away from the peleton! I was just fascinated to watch the tactics going on out there, everyone fighting for cameron meyer's wheel for the first half of the race was interesting. A superb race though, first time ive ever seen a cycling race live i was about 50m south of the start/finish until about 2 laps before the bell i went to the finish to watch the sprint was great!

Did anyone see the destroyed carbon frame bike in the "pits".

Now that looked expensive! (and scary to see what can happen to carbon fibre, presumably in a crash)

Sorry no pics, but the carbon fibre had just splintered and the main frame was in three pieces

Eeewww, wouldn't have read the name by any chance?

On a slightly different note, at Leederville I was the mens size 11 shoe winner

Broken

If you want to see the broken bike - looks like a prorace but can't be sure.

Wonder what goes thru a riders mind in that millisecond that lasts a minute after hearing the crack?

If I were sliding on the road after a bingle, hearing the bike go would be the least of my worries!! I'm guessing this wasn't just a "spontaneous combustion" thing!!

Crash damage eh? Yeah, the bike is the least of your worries then. At least until you get up and discover all limbs are attached.
