Plan is to meet up in Norseman, he is doing a different initial route to me. I should beat him to Norseman and have a rest day or 2.

Hopefully you're not thinking of doing that track from Hyden to Norseman, bit rough and not really an official road. I broke a bike frame out there years back, ran out of water in similar weather to now as the terrain was so tough, it was a hard slog.

It is a gazetted road and has been for years. I do agree that the Shire of Kondinin does not do a great job of their section but the rest is good condition and is great riding. So in effect there is about 21 km of 297 km that is rough road.

Myself, Cavebear, Mike and Baalzamon rode it last year in April as part of our ride from Esperance back to Perth. I wouldn't hestitate to go back and ride it again and do plan in the future to ride in the area, taking on the Holland Track.

These photos was taken on the rough section in the Shire of Kondinin

and these photos are from the Shire of Dundas side, the good side.

Enjoy your ride Stuart and all the best.

Last time I was there I was carrying 16L. This time I'm carrying 14L as I can most likely get water from the mines, or from McDermond rock which has water on it.

Will be quite hard to brake a Thorn Nomad Raven bike.

That wind over the last two days has been painful. It blew out my fufu valve both days.

Up in the hills we haven't seen that rain front yet.

Sorry, need definition of fufu valve. Is that the same as the CBF valve?

Generally you sit on it. When I was playing rugby after a hard training I would have to go an find it somewhere on the field ;)

Yep. Dry cycling for the past week on the Bianchi but looks like I'll be back on the Apollo tomorrow for a wet spin. It's only water

Fufu valve = check out a Carl Barron video

Enjoy while it lasts - soon will be stinking hot.

Right when I am allowed back on the saddle no doubt.

I don't mind the heat either.

I know, about 6 weeks in spring and autumn and Perth beats anywhere hands down.

did 60 km up to two rocks and back yesterday in the howling gail - tends to take the edge off the enjoyment factor....

Not so great today. Had 50-kilometres planned, but that's out of the question. Might try and sneak in a shorter ride before dinner if things clear a bit.

I used to hate wet weather, but it keeps the dust down on the trails for another week or so!

Hi

30 km commute this morning. Rained from start to finish along with some heavy periods when on the coast. The joys of commuting :)

Clearing this afternoon but looking fairly windy. Should make my South Perth foreshore route "fun".

I rode to work at 4am this morning and it was a little chilly but not too bad. Considering I was wearing shorts, t-shirt and thin tracksuit jacket it was pretty good. My hands were a tad cool though. And yes, this afternoon was/is glorious (except for the puncture waiting for me when I came out of work  )

Left home this morning at 6am just a splatter of rain nothing really turned round and got a rain jacket just in case. Was riding West on Reid about an hour later up ahead there was lightning and BLACK clouds. Looked really cool the roads were pretty wet from then on and the coffee shop emptied pretty quick :( :(. Bring on summer warm dry mornings.
