5.4 when I left, but went to king's park - as the sun was coming up there are pockets there that feel like it's 0c

So cold and it's not even winter yet.
How am I going to cope?
My toes were freezing until I couldn't feel them!

Yes, rather chilly this morning!

What sort of shoes do you ride in?
I've got some old Lake MTB shoes, they have a rubberised toe that seems to keep the cold air out fairly well.

My nose gets cold though and I have to give it a blow when I get to work.

I'm using Giro Rumble MTB shoes.
I have a pair of Shimano road shoes and velotoze which I've used before, but I much rather the MTB shoes
Will see tonight if I can fit the velotoze over my MTB shoes.

Lots of talk about double socks vs plastic bags vs shoe covers over here:

I really need some better bike gear, I just can't afford it at the moment haha Everything I have is pretty thin, better for cold summer mornings or spring than winter..

The last 2 days I've worn basic compression tights, thickish socks, bibs, Kathmandu thermal long sleeve, thin cotton t-shirt, singlet, lycra jersey, arm warmers. Add my backpack & I start to feel pretty damn bulky!

Even with all of the above, the leggings & warmers are thin so my limbs still get chilly, plus the toes. But it isn't 'too' bad, my beard keeps the face warm :D

I don't think it gets all that much colder, maybe a couple less degrees..

I put the sleeves on my convertible jacket this morning, as opposed to wearing it as a vest yesterday.
When I got to the gym, I was so sweaty inside, but it worked :) haha

Ant, id recommend some leg warmers instead of compression tights, will keep you warmer and should be comfier then wearing tights under your bibshorts! (imo anyway) Also a decent thermal compression top would be comfier than having the kathmandu long sleeve, cotton t and singlet...but obviously the decent ones wont be too cheap.

Also i find keeping your skin warm makes a big difference in how cold you actually feel, ie gloves/cap/ neck buff go a long way in 'how cold' you actually feel!

the trick is to block the wind.

more layers don't work if they let the wind through.

I had the opposite problem this morning, I was too toasty! haha

I dropped into Big W hoping to grab a cheap thicker under layer type shirt (they sometimes have cheap 'Guy Leech' stuff). They didn't have anything like that but had a black showerproof zip up jacket with elasticated wrists & waist & toggle hood. Inside the body part and hood has thin tracksuit material. Only $25 so I grabbed it and wore it today with my l/s thin thermal & jersey underneath...I had to unzip it most of the way after about 3km!

Recommend it though if you want a cheap black jacket you could also use for other sports/jogging etc

rode at 7am this morning, not sure what the temp was...(depending on what app/site 6c, 3c, 10c (but real feel 5c??) wore bib tights, merino wool long sleeve base layer, light vacket, skull cap (from icebreaker) and didnt get cold at all...unzipped the jacket after about 10mins. i prefer being warm, can't be bothered toughing it out with the cold any more.

Didn't check the radar before setting off this morning - it was sunny when I left. Very wet 5 mins later

Very strange weather... usually cold or wet... not at the same time.

That's the first time I've ridden in early morning fog, it was pretty thick to start with and my glasses didn't help :D Not too cold though which was nice.

I took my chances with the "20% chance of showers" and copped a bit of light drizzle in the second half of my commute. Nothing too serious and luckily it wasn't really cold so my gear is already dry (hanging it in the spare room at work)

I hit the road just as the 20% chance of showers happened! Then the 20% finished just as I arrived at work.

At least it wasn't cold and windy :-)

For the first time my Garmin recorded negative figures -1C Sunday morning (26th June)
It was quite fresh!
Between Jandabup & Lexia around 6:30am it was mostly 0C but dropped to -1C for a while. And I wasn't the only fool out :D
