120kph storms? Pussy stuff. I am really looking forward to the ride in to work tomorrow. :?

I've dug the tarp pancho out of the cupboard. It may be one of those occasional times when I sleep in and take the train most of the way.

I will still have 7kms to ride. That and the same in the afternoon should be enough to justify my daily coffee and muffin at Sassys still. :D

Canning Bridge underpass flooded on the eastern side. Beware of a big rock hidden under the water that has washed onto the path.

Glad I was on my Mountain bike this morning - that flood at Canning Bridge was about 20cm deep.. gave my shoes a wash, just to make me feel even happier about cycling in the conditions :)

Water flooding under bridge is pretty rare in the mornings. I have only ever come across it once. Plenty in the afternoons though.

This morning was not that strong weatherwise so I expect that the tide was the push that it needed.

It's quite a challenge with a pancho on a unicycle and I actually quite like the challenge occasionally. Just for the hell of it. And surprising how many others have to go thru it with me.

However, as my arvo ride currently doesn't take me along Como. Sth Perth I may not have the pleasure of being bucketed by the river this year. Pity. :?

Made excellent time to work this morning, so had to look up if rolling resistance is less in the wet - and apparently it is!

I'd suggest this is more likely candidate than wet versus dry weather rolling resistance =D

On a day like today, if it doesn't feel like you're riding into the wind, or that there is any wind at all, then it's probably at your back =D

I dropped 10% average trip speed with just the westerly vector at 35-40kph with some big gusts. Any improved rolling resistance would have aided the wind pushing me backwards =P
I was grinning maniacally riding at a crawl into it on riverside drive while oncoming riders were flying with it at their back.

I quite enjoyed last nights ride home, some guy in front of me had a great save as he got blown onto the dirt just before the sea scouts hut and bobbled along in for what seemed like an age before making it back to tarmac! I then I nearly took myself off around the back of the Raffles apartments on a load of washed up sand/dirt/vegetation that I didn't see in the dark. A bit of trail variation is never a bad thing on a mountain bike - glad I wasn't on the road bike though 8)

yes some luck is good. Last night after surviving the narrow low barrier height freeway overpass at Stirling/Osborne Park Hospital, a rider passed on the right bend of the downhill northbound giving me no room to evade a big squiggly shaped branch. Pure arse that I picked the bottom of a U shaped section and got right over it without catapulting it up either side of the bike/me. Psyching up for the trip home, hope some Samaritan pedestrians or dogs looking for a good time have cleared the obstacles for us.

brilliant ride home on tuesday. perfect tailwind, average speed was 5kmh faster than normal and I hit 46kmh on a flat piece of road that is by far my fastest speed on the flat.
good fun.

Could also have been a good Samaritan cyclists reporting them to MainRoads:

One day I most work out why my phone doesn't automatically rotate pictures when using NeatStreet.

Both cleared up on return trip in the evening.

I had footage of those two I took frames of last night, but already after the fact =D TBH if I was walking the path I'd just drag it out the way at least.
I'll have to give the neatstreets workflow a test.

Glorious sunshine on the way in I needed sunnies and strip off the arm/leg warmers halfway. Wind is like a drug, glorious highs and amplified lows, got it at the back again this morning for the twisty section of Riverside Drive gave great speed and change of directions like being at speed on a motorcycle through the hills again... but a crawl heading into it last night not miserable but humble futility.

Rode to Mandurah from Coogee this morning and left at 6am.

Far out, it was cold. Never been so happy to see a Dome and a hot coffee in my life.

Beautiful riding home though.

Was quite nice out this arvo at 5PM as well, note that there is still a lot of debris on the path near the raffles apartments (river side of path). Almost got caught out in the low light situation.

7 degrees - first cold morning. I've bought out the balaclava for that first hour. Gloves on. Let's see if I can ward off the sniffles between home and Sassys. cu out there early risers.
