Perth weather

Last night was wild, solid hard rain through Leederville but three of us took turn north of Osborne Park into the headwind which was good for the legs. This morning was worse- rained on was bad enough, but the wind was relentless, especially along the coast, south of Karrinyup Road- 26km/h (hr in the red), normally 35/40km/h.

This morning was great... apart from the storm that seemed to wait for me to decide to leave home and absolutely belted me for the first 20 minutes or so of my ride haha.

I just made it in today just before the rain has hit! I could see the clouds on the horizon and I was like I better get home before they get to me. Made it. That NE wind was a cracker as well. Beautiful coming down Kwinana FWY PSP but going to Freo and alongside the river was a fun time. Pretty much used my whole range of my triple gearing today...

Lucky being in Broome,

Well the weather looks okay for tomoz, although 3C is forecast. Might get the good bike out as no rain.

Weather app said "2.3 degrees, feels like 0.6" My poor nose! And my winter (non-cycling specific) gloves couldn't quite keep the cold out at that temperature. But otherwise my various layers kept me warm enough without overheating. Just my face was really cold.

so I found the temperature limit for my gloves this morning.
Super cold hands for the first 10kms or so. Riding along shaking them and clenching into fists to keep the blood flowing. Brrr.

Nice ride this morning, dolphins under Mt Henry Bridge, no doubt enjoying the water being much warmer than the air was.

This morning had all the makings of an 'excuse morning' - freezing, dark, things broke as I was about to leave, but was meeting someone for the ride so that was enough motivation for me.
Three layers up top, and 2 on the bottom still couldn't prevent me from loving the hot water shower this morning!!

I rode in this morning from Mt Henry to the city just before sunrise and had to wear my surfing goretex sweater with hoodie. Thank god for the warm showers at work!
Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow ..

Rode in yesterday and today... I have to say.. there's a drastic reduction in the number of cyclists I'm seeing last/this week.
Had to wear about 4 layers of clothing... nice and fresh, I think I only regained feeling in my toes about 1 hour after I finished the ride.. :D
Got a bit of a scare this morning when I was absent mindedly riding along the PSP and didn't notice someone stretching (touching their toes) by side of the path.. I nearly fell of the bike thinking I saw something out of this world...
:D woke me up real quick... hahaha

The opposite for me regarding number of cyclists- much more this week- iirc last week was windy and rainy- this week just cold.

Big winner last night was discovering my summer full finger gloves fit inside my winter gloves- extra toasty fingers- just need to sort out my nose now.

Absolutely beautiful this morning. I got to leave a bit later as well which meant it wasn't as cold.

I did feel like a bit of a whimp this morning as me in:
full lenght leg warmers
knicks
undershirt
arm warmers
long sleeved soft shell (I wear arm warmers under it below about 6 deg)
gillet
windstopper golves
ear warmers
northwave arctic boots (not just the overshoes, but actual ankle high shoes)

passed some guy in boardies and a wife beater on a MTB. But he did look cold.

That does seem a bit much.
This morning I was in long pants, undershirt, arm warmers and winter jersey.

I dont like the cold :) it was 3 deg after all. my feet do get a bit toasty but it is better than having numb feet until lunch time. Rest of it is comfortable temperature wise. the soft sheel is not actually all that warm and it doesnt do much to stop the wind.

I had cheapo "compression" shorts and long sleeve top which blocks some wind, with termal bib tights over that and a winter weight long sleeved jersey. I just wear normal socks and sneakers which seem to keep my feet warm enough. For gloves, I use some scrappy old thermal knitted gloves that I got from a $2 shop. They are actually 3 layer gloves which keep my hands nice and warm. I was comfortable in that, not overly hot and not overly cold.
