The Mosman hill wasn't so bad, I was puffing big time at the top though. A lot were walking it up and some that you wouldn't expect...
Nearly had a my first clipstack where all the 4WD Show traffic was, everyone came to a complete stop and took me by surprise.
I overtook and got overtaken by a red tandem several times and wondered if it was hondaboy??Also saw a certain unicyclist at Langley Park after the event, but I was on the phone at the time and he was too quick for me to say hello.
Hope everyone had a good day

Yeah. I rode from home with only the intent to ride to Sassys as I normally do. But once I got to the Narrows I succumbed and tracked the ride from there to the finish (on the paths though). I even managed to pass a half dozon on the climb up MIll Point Road but, discouragingly, they left me in tjeir dust once they got over the top. I had look for a few friends and also needed a water refill so I wandered around for a short while.zh_302 wrote:Had such a great ride today, sounds corny but we live in such a beautiful city.

Followed up with some laps around Perth CBD before climbing Malcolm Street uand a lap around Kings Park. All up it was a little over 40km for the day.
After all that I reckon that I may be a chance to try the 53 next year. They seem to allow a fair bit of time to get around.

I was in the 53k group, the 1st downhill on the course (then follow by right turn, in the Nedlands/Dalkeith area), I heard a loud man scream & crash bang from behind, then the scream got really close to me, at a point that was so close to me.
I thought its gonna crash right into me (his scream was cm close, kinda in my ears, I actually prepared for impact ) somehow I managed to pull away.
Then I saw everyone was yelling "are you OK?" "OMGosh" etc, and a lot of Marshall rushed to the behind.
I didnt stop & look back, as I was downhill and sharp right turning.
I hope that man is OK, was minor (I m pretty sure he crashed from top and rolled downhill, since the bang was far to very close to me)
(I think it was around 8am or sometime in between)

I was one of the last to start the 53km ride but didn't see that I came through around 8am.DFgunner wrote:Anyone seen an accident/bike fall, near around Nedlands/Dalkeith area?
There was a serious crash on the freeway, traffic was banked as the ambulance made its way to the injured rider.

Ambo & cops were all around, saw the man laying on the ground (he is part of a riding group)
but dont know how it happened.
A lot of cars were curious, slowed down or stopped to watch it unfold (those curious motorists were actually holding up the traffic, not us as suggested by Perthnow, the fwy traffic was clean & smooth after that section )
anyway, hope the injuried rider is OK

I woke several times during the night, and before leaving for the ride threw up three times, however as I'd raised over $1000 I had to ride, pushing my body through all 106kms on determination alone as all my usual speed seemed to be lost with my ill health. I finished but with a terrible average speed for my self.
On the positive note for my ride, even feeling appealing I could still climb those hills better than most other riders that were around while I was ascending.

Sensational effort, well done. Reminds me of the Tour one year when one of Jan Ullrichs domestiques had to hold a helmet for him to....well you get the picture.Mrfenejeans wrote:The SGBR was the worst ride I've done in along time, registered in the 106 which is within my capabilities, had road 80kms the day before and feeling great and then had a chicken treat lunch which turned out to be my undoing giving me food poisoning
