I'm keen to do some group rides as I've not done any before and am interested in meeting some of the other BNA''ers and really want to put some K's on my new bike. Sat or Sum AM is good for me :D

The start and finish location would be more important to me than the day. Living close to the city a treck to joondalup for a ride is a long way to go.

Seems like there is a good few riders on board for this.

Im thinking for every ride to start of from somewere like the Belltower in Perth CBD.

Although a ride out in the hills a few times would be really good.

Have a look here and list which routes you all think would be worth while having a go at, or use these to get an idea were we would like to go.

+1. It may be that we need a set - north/south/central rides, perhaps with synchronised start/finishes.

I had to answer no as I don't really make a good fit with group rides.

However, I would certainly have been in it a few years back when I did have a bike. And if it starts around the Bell Tower on a Sunday then at least I can give y'all a wave as I head to coffee. :D

I might like to try this out. Depends if you can put up with begineers with no real mileage in the legs yet.

Count me in. Sundays preferably but Saturdays are ok for me too. Any starting point near the city is fine, though I'm willing to travel further afield too.

One thing I've noticed is that there is a wide range of experience & abilities among BNA members. Given that Forum rides are a great way for new members to experience their first "group" ride, it would be good to start with a couple of shorter rides at a "social" pace. Most people can handle 30-40 km averaging 20 - 25 km / hr, so maybe that's the place to start. Perth / Bayswater / South Perth / Narrows possibly?

Don't forget the Freeway ride either - could be a good opportunity for BNA'ers to meet up at the 30 km or 70 km start points. (Anyone else doing the 70 km Mandurah start in the "ride with the bunch" category?)

I would like to see this ride for everyone, beginner and experienced. As I said in my other post I would like this to be a leisurely ride, it's about getting out their and enjoying the company and the ride.

I am up for Sun or Sat and it doesn't matter where we start from.

This all sounds pretty good.

So what are we looking at then, distance wise, will we say each ride should be 50km or less?

Also depends on how many people we get, we might even have to split into two groups for safety purposes.

Would be up for a social/leisurely ride. Saturdays best for me. Or evening rides through the city while it's deserted are always fun :-)

Thats something no one thought of evening rides could be mixed into it, that way those that are unable to ride on either day may be able to join in.

If we are looking at having beginners come along as well we will need to keep the distance respectable, I think 50k would be fine.

I know on other rides slow people are dropped or those that cannot complete the distance are left to find their own way back.I would like to see something different, if someone is struggling we do what we can to help them by slowing down or cutting the ride short by a few k's and we don't leave anyone behind.

As a reasonably fit newbie with no distance to speak of, not used to group rides, I would strongly suggest 30-40 kms would be ideal for a distance. I know I can comfortably cover 12 kms and feel ready to stretch out a little, but am not excited by 50 km.

What about people putting forward suggestions of where to go and where and when to start.
I'll put a suggestion after work.

I thought the bell tower starting point sounded like a fairly central idea.

Just wondering out loud about the freeway ride. Does it provide easy outs for pikers?
