Well the summer crit and TT season has drawn to a close - but wait there is more

ROAD RACING SEASON :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

So if you fancy a run now is the time to start working on the legs. First race is not until the 21st of April, so four weeks to get a bit of fitness into the body.

Check out the link for the season calendar

You know I'm in, but does the grading from summer carry-over? 8)

Don't forget there's a Time Trial this Sunday 9AM, 1st April. Hopeland Rd (off Karnup Rd):
40km Open
10km Juniors
16km Seniors

I thought it was going to be a 16/32km, but Roger has posted an update about it. Don't know if I want to kill myself or not...

@redbull might be interested (in learning how to roadrace and competing at a suitable level - probably D)

If I ride down to the ITT on Sunday, who should I talk to?

Hey Nick I live in Calista as well (seen you on Strava), we could meet up about 8am and ride down.

Pick a spot and I will be there at 8am.

As seen on Strava I live close to the intersection of Calista Ave and Wellard Ave, so the Ambulance Station there is as good as any for me.

Hi, how far are the road races? What kind of speeds do each grade generally go off at?
Thanks

It really depends on the course, conditions, which people turn up etc etc. This page from an Eastern states club sounds about right (PDCC has grades from A to E, and a growing juniors grade).

Get a license and just rock up for E, that's what I did!

Hey Fizzy

The old site used to have the race distances up for the various grades - usually 3-6 laps (35-70kms) depending on the grade (E to A).

With some of the course changes, it would be worth asking Roger if he has these details so you could put a link to them in.

With regards to speed - it all depends on the day and who is in the race. Sometimes you just have to hang onto the bunch as hard as you can and you can come away with a win or a good result. You will be surprised at what a race does for your average speed!! Remember, that riding in a bunch is faster using less energy than riding by yourself.

Unless Redbull yells at you to do some more work at the front - and harder :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Done. On the Courses page there's a link to the nominated distances spreadsheet

Sub 10kg bike won't help me - sub 100kg body would be of more benefit :lol: :lol:

Do you need to register and have a license? Or can you just show up on the day?

Just recently the club has started requiring a CA license in order to compete, it all comes down to insurance. Easiest way to get one is online, which can roll a club membership into the same payment.

So we're almost there, first race of the season is this Saturday 21st April. Details (from PDCC website):

Serpentine (course map)
8.8km lap
A = 8 laps = 70.4km
B = 7 laps = 61.6km
C = 6 laps = 52.8km
D = 5 laps = 44km
E = 4 laps = 35.2km

1pm signups, 2pm race start.

I will be there, but I'm marshalling. Be sure to wave on your way round! For those who haven't been to a PDCC race before it's almost exactly not like this.

There is one, there was a group of about 10 juniors out today

Don't know the cut off age is, but there were a couple of youngsters racing with the old blokes today. One managed to get in the break of two and make it stick. The 2nd's aim was the same as mine finish in the bunch, other than the bunch breaking up in the final 2.5km, he did and has family bragging rights as his dad was dropped on the 3rd of 4 laps.

You can find all the contact details on the PDCC website http://pdcc.asn.au/
