Postby argybargy » Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:55 am

I swear that i saw a cycle shop on milligan street in the cbd the other month, but cannot find trace of it on any google searches. Does anyone know if this does in fact exist?

They also have a workshop. Just got a spoke replaced and wheel trued. Very reasonably priced considering the city centre location, had expected to pay more.

They successfully confused me and probably others a few months back when we were told it was called RideAdvice. It took a while to establish that it was the shop with Specialized emblazoned across the front.

I've been in a couple of times but I rather fancy a shop with lots of varied stock which. Something like the TBE that was on Wellington Street or the average LBS.

You will find that part of the user agreement for being a Specialized dealer is that the majority of your stock MUST be Specialized.
They (Specialized) have some pretty specific rules in place if you wish to be a Speccy reseller, such as how much of the floor stock is theirs, how much is their competitors, and how much 'S' advertising is shown. Basically if you can't commit to 60% of your stock being on Specialized, they won't let you sell their stock.

A mate who owns a bike store told me of these pretty full on rules for being a reseller which is why a couple of stores aren't selling Speccy any more.

The Today Tonight story was shot at Glen Parkers Nedlands
The bicycle is a curious vehicle. Its passenger is its engine.

Ah, I watched it the other day and I know they mentioned something about a new city store full of businessmen on their lunch breaks.

Popped in there today, neat store with some very drool-worthy Orbea's.
Quiet end of town but, in contrast to RideAdvice where I also went into today which was busy and they have also put on some new staff since the last time I was in there a few months ago.

Nope - they are closed down.

From the owners :

"Hi Mark,
We have closed our Northbridge store and however Dave (who was managing Northbridge) and Marty are both located at Midland.
We have 3 stores if Midland is not convenient for you.
Midland Cycles on 214A Great Eastern Highway Midland Phone 9250 6330
Armadale Cycles on 58 Fourth Road, Armadale Phone 9399 3370
Canningotn Cycles 2/1440 Albany Highway Cannington (opening in about 2 weeks)"

Interesting to note that the new store on Albany Highway is old Committed Cycles / Glen Parker South store - which makes sense as it was recently fitted out with new paint, floors etc...

Runner's World would still be an option for bike stuff if you wanted one in Northbridge near Cycle Gallery.

If you mean Runners World in Fitzgerald Street Northbridge - Bob and Jan - they closed up around March last year. I and many picked up a few bargains at the time.
