Lake Monger - Herdsman Lake Connector

If you ride Dodd Street, Wembley ( the NW23 cycle route) you might be interested in Transperth's plans for the Dodd Street/Harborne Street intersection. Dodd Street if you are wondering is the road that runs from the northern side of Lake Monger through to Herdsman Parade where a significant number of cyclists then connect to the shared path along Jon Saunders Drive.

The Bicycle Transport Alliance has raised concerns about Transperth's plans to have buses turning in and out of Dodd Street off Harborne Street. This means that at peak times there will be buses mixing in with the fairly high volumes of traffic at this intersection making it harder for cyclists to cross over Harborne Street. I know from my own experience this intersection is not the best at times, adding buses into the mix is not going to improve matters.

If you are concerned about this proposed route change you can voice your concerns to Transperth [PDF]; please do it by November 19, 2012.

Bit of a fuss over nothing - a whole 6 buses per hour (two-way) will have negligible impact on anything.

The comment from 'Daryl Hall' is garbage as well, does (s)he seek written notification from every vehicle that passes down her street?

Finally, why provide a link to the feedback form but no link to the actual Transperth information? Encouraging people to make an uninformed objection?

I guess I disagree having regularly ridden through there ... buses will be a pain at that intersection particularly at high traffic times. There is enough of a back up of traffic as it is. YMMV of course.

The road/carpark on the eastern end of Dodd St is still in really poor shape despite the nearby Hearing School being recently refurbished. I noticed some new white spraypaint around the many pot holes today. Hopefully the whole area will be resurfaced and not just patched up.

New line markings on Dodd St today between Herdsman Parade and Harbourne St indicating they are about to install some wide median islands down the middle of the street
