Kings Park Early Morning Riders
Postby Troy C » Tue Dec 11, 2012 5:14 pm
This morning I witnessed first hand how arrogant some cyclist are. When a approved "Road Closed and Detour" sign are up, would you drive through it?. then I ask the 5 cyclist, (not together) why would you ride through it and to cap it off, cut off a competing rider. It would have been disastrous if they had collided. Shocking is all I can say. ATTA will now look at ways of completely barricading each end, as my priority is the safety of the competing rider. Next week we have 2 Green Edge riders competing. Image telling you mates that you just T boned a world champ on your morning commute!!!!!!!

I just followed the detour signs and had an enjoyable (if not incredibly sticky) ride regardless.
Some people really are twits.

Many people will just try and nip through unless there is constant activity around the barrier without a reasonable explanation of why the road is closed and detoured.

That's poor taste considering most people riding through Kings park to work will be "cyclists" rather than bike riders I'd imagine.
Sounds like some danger tape right across the road would be the go to protect the TT riders.
I've had people pull out in front of me on the PSP and that's bad enough let alone concentrating on going full bore and not expecting it.

Any tips on vantage points start/finish line for the laps and sensible way obeying detours to access it by bike/trike?

Hate. It.
Great atmosphere this morning, State's best, fantastic juniors and Orica GreenEdge Pros showing us how to ride.
Great stuff!

I'm probably horribly slow compared to these guys but after bagging a bunch of KOMs/CRs on Strava recently I'm curious to see how well I'd do compared to REAL riders in a race condition
