The RAC have commissioned a report into the economic benefits of cycling in WA, and it became available just before Christmas.

The report indicates that investing $340mio over the next ten years will achieve a Benefit/Cost ratio of 3.4 to 1!!!

No other transport investment comes close !!! (Public transport is about 1.8 to 1, roads seldom exceed 1 to 1)

Links to the executive summary and the full report can be found here

Just in time for the election?

Thanks RAC! It's this sort of quality research that is needed, policy makers really have no excuse. It would be good to get some responses to this research from our elected representatives. Minister for Transport, and also a non-committal Labor.

We are both informing them of these figures, and asking them for a response.
