To report or not?

Postby Evo6point5 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 9:10 pm

Hi all, riding back from Mandurah on sat morning at 10:30 just south of Walley (sp?) bridge there was a ute driving slowly down the cycle path.

I forgot the number plate soon after but watching tv tonight suddenly remembered it.

Should I report to the police?

If you think it looks dodgy yeah why not.

You need a lot of detail for a formal report, no plate, no chance. It's still worth a call though, sooner or later these calls have to feature on someone's radar.
There're some rough parts of that path, shame really, the quality of the build is unparalleled for both cycling and the access it afford for illegal offroaders.

Yeh was thinking nothing would happen but maybe if others do the same it would build a picture.

Wasnt fast or anything but yeh certainly odd and trying to squeeze a group past wouldn't have been easy

I do have the plate, time, make and model etc so will give them a call tomoro. Nothing to lose I guess

Not to mention illegal :-)
Interested to hear how you go. I don't know how it works internally with the police, but it does seem that it's all or nothing and they'd prefer to do nothing where there isn't either a strong chance of conviction or a major crime committed. Can't hurt to chew up a bit of their time with this though. One day, maybe in the year 2066, they'll send a patrol down the PSP. Probably in a ute!

Did it look like it was a contractor or anybody evaluating the area for work?

Hi Troy, not sure to be honest. Was an older model but could have been doing anything I guess. Thought it was weird morseo because last time I rode down there there were 2 quads on the path around the same spot.
