Leederville - Mandurah

Leederville - Mandurah

Postby bianchi928 » Wed Jun 05, 2013 2:40 pm

Hi,

I have searched the WA forum with no luck so I apologise upfront if this is on here somewhere. I've tried DPI maps as well.

We want to ride to Mandurah (from Leederville), grab a coffee / lunch then train it home. Our intent is to ride along the PSP South rather than along the coast.

1) How do you get from the PSP into Mandurah for cafes etc. Is it well signposted?
2) Is the PSP near the Mandurah train station?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Cheers

Hi bianchi928

I often do the opposite journey. To go from the PSP into Mandurah take Mandjoogoordap RD. The bike lane on the side of it is as big as an emergency lane. This road terminates at a round about which is about 150mt short of the train station. In terms of getting a coffee you could go over to the foreshore. If you turn right when you get to the round about you can make your way across to Mandurah terrace (via a couple of side streets) which will take you to the foreshore. Google maps may give you a better route to follow depending on which coffee shop you want to go to. The foreshore has a Dome and a Gloria Jeans.

No worries. I've been trying to get onto google maps to see if there is a shortcut to the foreshore but it won't load. Too slow. You could probably continue through the round about and turn right at the train station and make your way to the foreshore that way.

You can do better than the Dome & Gloria Jeans down in Mandurah. Last time I was down there I went to the one at this location
I've got 2 ways from Kwinana Fwy PSP into Mandurah
One is the Mandjoogoordap Drive and then off at the roundabout.
The other is going past Mandjoogoordap Drive and getting off the FWY psp getting onto stock road which then pretty much immediately I get onto Merrit Rd, follow that to the end, Left into Mulga Dr, Right into Gordon Rd and follow that all the way to Mandurah Tce, turn left into that and follow along until you get to the boardwalk areas. Take your pick of cafe

I have also used this option recently as I live close to Gordon Rd. Not a bad way to go. You can also get off Mandjoogoordap Rd onto Gordon Rd via a bike path approx 300mt short of the roundabout.

Have heard good things about that coffee shop too. Haven't been there yet.

I've done this ride as well. None of the roads were too busy when I did it on a Saturday morning. That said it's a nice ride back from Mandurah if you head down in the morning, you'll pretty much always have a tailwind coming home. If you're going to catch the train home why not head to Rocko instead and ride there and back.
I couldn't stand riding somewhere and catching public transport home, that's what I've got a bike for.
