Wheelset sizes
Postby steady621 » Sat Jun 08, 2013 6:46 am
I ride a Giant CRX3 9 speed bike and may need to replace my rear wheel. Specs tell me it is a 700 x 32H. Most of the rear wheels advertised are listed as 700 x 38mm. Will this fit?

Hi
Depends what sort of riding you do. I had a crx 4 I changed the wheels to 700 x25, but I many rode on the road or cycle paths. I just bought a pair of second hand wheels from somebody upgrading, if the wheels are shimano then I believe 8,9, or 10 are all interchangeable.
Cheers Jerry

Are you replacing the wheel or the tyre? The first measurement you gave, 700 x 32h, is for a 700c wheel built using 32 spokes. The second is for a 700c tyre that is 38mm wide.

Wouldn't that be a 622 x 38 mm tyre?singlespeedscott wrote:Are you replacing the wheel or the tyre? The first measurement you gave, 700 x 32h, is for a 700c wheel built using 32 spokes. The second is for a 700c tyre that is 38mm wide.

Thanks. I looked at other internet pages but failed to understand that the 32h equalled the number of spokes. Once you know, it falls into place. I will now hunt for a replacement 700 wheel that I know will accept a 23mm wide tyre.
