Recommendations for 100k loop?

Recommendations for 100k loop?

Postby vbplease » Wed Jun 12, 2013 8:21 am

I'm visiting Perth at the moment and have my bike with me :) so looking for some good rides on the weekends.

Can anyone please post a link to a strava run or give some directions to their favourite 100k loop? Ideally going out of the city to avoid traffic, some hills, good views, interesting sights etc.
thanks!

+1 That is foreign territory to me. I will check it out when I'm feeling energetic/deluded about my own ability

This is 100k, takes in some ocean and some hills as well as Freo, Perth and Guildford.
Looking at it anticlockwise you could easily skew it to a bit more river and hills by going from Kalamunda to Mundaring (instead of Kalamunda Guildford) and following the river from the city to Freo (instead of head west to the beach). Most of it is on good bike paths or quiet roads.

If you want to join a group ride on Saturday morning the South Perth Rouleur's are worth checking out. They leave at 5:30 am from under the Narrows or 7:00 am from Coode St. The 7:00 am ride has a number of speeds to suit all.

If you do the 5:30 am and the 7:00 am ride you will clock up 100 km.

Did the 100k loop saturday morning. Awesome ride!! You guys in Perth are spoilt for scenic coastal roads, quiet roads in the hills and bikeways..

Look forward to trying some different hills this weekend.

I can't get over how courteous the motorists are over here.. I'm yet to have one car come within 1m of me ;)
