Hey All

I was hoping someone may be able to help me out and provide some information for purchasing my first road bike. I need to ride around 50-100km a day and was seeing opinions on different road bikes, suitable gear and a recommended shop to buy it from. Price range is $2000-$3000 for everything.

Any information provide is much appreciated.

Regards

Rhys

Always been happy with TBE Osborne Park and Wembley Cycles.

Got my road bike from TBE - they were quite particular about the fit (not a professional bike fit, but they took leg inseam measurement, played around with varying stem height with several test rides, etc). I was pretty happy with that - no other shop I went to were that thorough. Also got a discount without asking.

Al at Al's Bicycle Surgery (http://alscyclesurgery.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) in Heathridge is probably worth a visit. The guys (Angus, Chris and Mark) at Cycles Bespoke (http://cyclesbespoke.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) in Bayswater are also a friendly bunch. If your just starting out they are probably worth having a chat to even if you don't buy a bike from them. The guys at TBE in Belmont are good though IMHO not as knowledgeable as Al and Cycles Bespoke.

If your starting out riding I would recommend working your way up to the 50-100k mark as that's a fair distance to be travelling each day.

See Steve at Elite Racing Cycles in northbridge. He will give honest advice and not try to just sell. I trust him with my bikes...and that's saying something :)

Malaga Cycles is my LBS for over 10 years and also has a good group ride set up on Saturday's. TBE and Wembley Cycles also good discussions- I try to steer clear of Bikforce anything- personal experiences have not been good but lots of people think otherwise.

I have had mixed experiences with Bikeforce. The good experiences were at bikeforce morley.

+ 1 to Elite Racing Cycles. I have only had good advice from them.
