Snake!

Snake!

Postby Timeonabike » Mon Dec 30, 2013 10:22 pm

Saw a healthy looking snake on the Freeway PSP around about Fiona Stanley hospital this arvo...it was in the Northbound lane and I was heading South.
I tried to let oncoming traffic know, but dunno if the message got thru though at speed.

Anyone else see it?

Cheers

I was down that way yesterday afternoon - didn't see a snake, but did hear some noise in the bushes, and thought I'd rather not know what that is !

If I had seen it, I think speed records would have been broken, as I got as far away from it as possible.

I saw a dugite I think up between towards Canning bridge. This was a few yrs back. Scooting along doing 30kph and snake comes onto the path quite quickly and did a very quick 180. Think it got more of a scare than me.

I like wild life.
Just think how many more tourists and whinging expats we'd have to put up with out it.

A wallaby and a goanna in the bike lane on the way out to Terrey Hills this morning.

They weren't moving. :(

On a happier note, we saw a big goanna Sunday arvo sunning itself across the trail during our mountain bike ride through Cascades. Lazy thing didn't want to move until we got off our bikes and shooed it into the bushes.

Get use to it, especially when you ride further south on the PSP

My rule at this time of the year if it looks like a stick on the PSP it is probably a snake.

Last year I was seeing a snake every third or fourth commute from Kwinana to the CBD.

Up until last year, always managed to avoid them. Ran over two last year, both about 1.8m long. One was just over a little rise, did not see it till a couple metres away, to late. The second I spotted maybe 10m away, options brake and maybe hit it at slow speeed, take crazy evasive action and possibly deck the bike in front of the snake or hit it straight on, I took option c with a little bunny hop, front wheel cleared it , rear wheel didn't.

When I turned my head, neither where on the path (or attached to the bike)

+1 Nick!

Have seen a few slithery fiends down riding south past Rowley rd!but having said that a few weeks back we had a looong brown snake in our front yard ! And we live approx 400 meters north of Russell road! :? So they definitely have a large habitat!Unfortunately due to all the land clearing these animals must also relocate somewhere! Happy 2014 to all!

I'm in the units just south of Russell road and we've had a snake there too, also saw a fox on the psp about 500m south about a week ago. I love seeing the wildlife as long as it leaves me alone!!
