That is an alfresco area that is being built at the front of the perth arena.

Go figure? Another bar.... right next to a cyclepath? What could possibly go wrong?

Checked in again with Tenders WA and the contract to replace the faulty glass at the Arena has still not been awarded (tenders closed 4 weeks ago).

Word on the grapevine is that the current N-S route over the railway tunnel will be closing in December when King St is connected through to Roe St so everyone is going to have to find a new route through the Perth Citylink construction area when this happens with even less chance that it is reasonably segregated from pedestrians.

And on and on and on it goes:

A REVIEW has been launched into the risk of glass at some of Perth’s elite sports venues “spontaneously” exploding.

VenuesWest became aware of the danger when a glass panel broke at Perth Arena late last year and tests confirmed a defect known as nickel sulphide inclusions.

VenuesWest board minutes obtained by The Sunday Times show glazing works to fix the Perth Arena problem were carried out in the first half of 2017.

The documents show half of the project was completed before advice revealed the solution would not work.

A tender for glass replacement was unsuccessful in September and a revised tender was released this month.

Still no fix in sight...
