Geez. Another on the driver's side is just bizarre too.Cycleops70 wrote:Another one this morning (cyclists hit by driver who failed preliminary breath test)

Being a Western Power contractor and blowing over the limit - he will likely be sacked from his job in the event that he doesn't go to jail.

Channel 10 has a photo of the vehicle and it is the passenger side wing mirror, not the driver side.wellington_street wrote:Geez. Another on the driver's side is just bizarre too.Cycleops70 wrote:Another one this morning (cyclists hit by driver who failed preliminary breath test)

Perhaps the old 'Save As' from the Mt Pleasant article went a bit wrong

Two different accidents -Scott_C wrote:Channel 10 has a photo of the vehicle and it is the passenger side wing mirror, not the driver side..
Mt Pleasant, RHS mirror 18th Sept, driver fled the scene.
Kwinana beach, LHS mirror 23rd Sept, driver stopped.

You can add a third .. Upper Swan ... driver pulls knife allegedly then fled the scene. The bicycle riders directly involved where a a 14 year old girl and 13 year old boy but do not think the knife was pulled on them. They where riding with support vehicles, front and rear as I understand it.Thoglette wrote:Two different accidents -Scott_C wrote:Channel 10 has a photo of the vehicle and it is the passenger side wing mirror, not the driver side..

It was stated in the news report that he was driving a Western Power contractor vehicle.cp123 wrote:the drunk driver - there's writing on the passenger door. is that a work car? that's probably another level of poop he's got himself into in damaging a work car while drunk... he might have to pay to repair that one too?
Think he will lose his job in the event that he doesn't go to jail (unlikely given the cyclists has died).

i) the cyclists condition, and
ii) the result of the court hearing? it was reported to be on November 4th and would be interesting to know what charges have been laid.

In view of the intense media interest at the time I'd expect it would be very easy to find more after the date that police charged. Indeed I have so far linked to three pages that no longer exist. Curious.
I am told by someone who worked with the partner that she thinks the driver is currently in gaol.
Does anyone care to address my curiousity? What were the eventual outcomes.
