Anybody doing this? Details below...

http://www.btawa.org.au/news/ridetowork08.shtml

I may even take the plunge this year, my distance is nearly 40km but the place I am currently working at has decent showers (and I can safely store my bike overnight i.e. in my office and not in the car park).

Cheers,

Gary

I'm doing it with another 4 people from the office (2 are meeting at my place cos Clarkson is too far and we are collecting the other 2 on the way in).

I'll be riding home, but we have already decided that we won't be working in the office that day :) and the others will need to leave early anyway to catch the train - I'm guessing it will take about 2-2.5 hours to ride in with them, then breaky at a cafe, it will be almost home time :D

If you overtake us, please wave...

Would have to get a job to qualify for this wouldn't I? haha. Might ride down to the beach instead and have a nice dip as the forecast for Wednesday is 31 degrees last time I checked:P Starting to feel like summer is only just around the corner!

I am still waiting for the shower to be installed at work

So much riding I am missing out on !

Maybe I will just risk the sweaty that morning.

Ride to work day is a great idea,

Been riding to work now regardless of weather for about 3 years, my commute in melbourne was from Camberwell to Narre Warren 72km a day and I loved it.

There are so many health and monetary benefits to it, it rocks

I guess the only issue is if you have showers etc at your work place

I believe we have showers (we are in the IBM building) but I don't know where they are  so I will have to head home again!! And Scotty ain't being "parked" for the day out of my sight!!

Seriously, I ain't lugging a laptop and arranging a suit at the office, so I'll have a morning chat with our account manager, then head home.

I love my job :)

There's a NE due in the morning so I'm thinking of heading down the Coast road and then cutting across to the City at City Beach. It will add an extra 10km on the ride but it will be worth it with the tailwind!

Cheers,

Gary

It was more of an Easterly in the morning then I expected so I took the direct route today and headed down the Freeway Path.

Great ride though! Set off at 5.45am and was showered and behind my desk by 7.30am!

Hardest part was the Marmion Av stretch between Mindarie and Burns Beach. Too many white vans and utes for my liking!

Cheers,

Gary

The shower news has improved today ! It finally has been set in motion, no idea when it will be installed though..

however ! .... I rode from home to work, after work, to keep in the spirit of things and then rode home again. I cant wait to be able to commute again every day.
