BIKE FIT Calculators?

Postby azzurribike » Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:23 am

Anyone able to suggest a good calculator? I tried the one at

Competitivecyclist dot com

..but found the measurements very hard to believe, or even want to try.

What's so hard about it? Many people on the net have found satisfaction with their fit suggestions. If the more sporty Competitive Fit isn't for you, then you can use the alternative two suggested.

Otherwise, any fit calculator is only as good as the data provided to it. So make sure your measurements are up to scratch.

Whats is so hard is the French Fit for example suggests that the nose of my seat is 22cm behind the BB. so that would be behind my seatpost? and the I'd need longer arms. I'm pretty sure my measurments are correct.

Measurements
-------------------------------------------
Inseam: 790
Trunk: 635
Forearm: 370
Arm: 665
Thigh: 610
Lower Leg: 550
Sternal Notch: 1440
Total Body Height: 1780

The Competitive Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 513.3 - 513.8
Seat tube range c-t: 529.1 - 529.6
Top tube length: 411.2 - 411.6
Stem Length: 133.6 - 134.2
BB-Saddle Position: 712.6 - 714.6
Saddle-Handlebar: 622.1 - 622.7
Saddle Setback: 219.2 - 219.6

The Eddy Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 514.5 - 515.0
Seat tube range c-t: 530.3 - 530.8
Top tube length: 411.2 - 411.6
Stem Length: 132.5 - 133.1
BB-Saddle Position: 711.8 - 713.8
Saddle-Handlebar: 622.9 - 623.5
Saddle Setback: 220.4 - 220.8

The French Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 516.2 - 516.7
Seat tube range c-t: 532.0 - 532.5
Top tube length: 412.4 - 412.8
Stem Length: 132.7 - 133.3
BB-Saddle Position: 710.1 - 712.1
Saddle-Handlebar: 624.6 - 625.2
Saddle Setback: 219.9 - 220.3

I just don't see how this can be done on a 56cm bike which apparently is my correct size.

What am I missing all help appreciated.

Check your body measurements! There are very careful instructions as to the points of measurement and you need to follow it precisely. And it's not a measurement you can do yourself. You must get a helper.
