Very true Russ. I've had a lot on at work and the weather has been pretty crappy. Any cushy jobs going where you work? ![]()
Re: Sandmans Cycling Blog
Don't make your excuses sound reasonable, takes all the fun out of taking the pi$$ Unfortunately no cushy (or safe) jobs at my place. Pity as the commute's not too bad. Russ ![]() GT Avalanche 1.0 | TCR Alliance 0 | Giant Bowery | BMW K1300R Two wheels good, Four wheels bad

Re: Sandmans Cycling BlogYou bunch of whoop ass girls
Riding is getting heaps better, starting to really enjoy it again. Rather than posting every day, might do a weekly summary. Been putting quite a few k's on the Scott though today I decided to bring the weapon in. I planned to meet Billy (Mr TT) and TJ who was riding a borrowed titanium bike at Tom Brown at 5:45am, when I got there at 5:40, 2 boys were already doing laps around it to stay warm. Guys, I met the toughest hard as nails bastard ever, it was f@rkin less than 5c and here he is in his Alice Springs Cycling club sleeveless vest and short nics....like WT?....on his fixie with a BIG gear. We took off down The Stuart Highway, TT on the front, Titanium 2nd, hard as nails 3rd, I ended up being the sweep for the first part...The Specialised just purred, it is just effortless compared to the lumbering Scott. Sitting on the back reading the paper and drinking coffee, we made it to the airport turnoff in good time. Round we go, I put down the coffee, fold up the paper and get on the front and off we go....increase the tempo and we've got a nice 4 bike peleton. Up it a little more, cardio starts working, bit more breathing and we're moving along real nice. The Carbon is soaking up the bumps nicely, Ayups lighting up the whole road, no back pack today, we're spanking Well we're good for a few kms, the fixie man is tough, he's hanging on however TJs tank is on empty, he's not having much fun on the titanium. We slow down to get TJ back on and then the freight train speeds up again, bugger TJ drops off, legs are buggered. The lad is tough, very good track rider but I dont think the borrowed titanium bike is doing it for him We said goodbye to the "tough bastard" as he kept going into the abyss south on the Stuart Highway, we turned right into Hatt road, Billy is banging away in my bl00dy ear about going up to Tennant Creek to do the Barkley Challenge in July. Tell ya, after getting back on the specialized, life is good, I might go do it. So only able to ride 3 days this week, off to Sydney tomorrow for a few days with work and back in the saddle next week. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks the coldest mornings will be over and we can start to get back into short nics and sweat like piggies Marco de Hurtbox ![]()

Re: Sandmans Cycling BlogI've been reading Sandman's posts for a long time now and I really love the humor in it, especially the HTFU'ing..
Loving it!!!! I get hurt to make others pay
Re: Sandmans Cycling BlogVipul
Good HTFU session today, 0 furging degrees at 5:40am out in Alice on Hatt road, must admit the fingers were a little cold and the 4 layers made me feel like the "Michelin Man". Good time out to the airport turnoff and solid HTFU'ing up to Hatt road, TJ our track rider ended up suffering a little too much and dropped off the back a few times on this section. We almost made it in record time this morning which was kinda cool. it was TJs last ride today, he's heading back to the US in 2 weeks and rumor has it he's trying out for the US track team, kinda cool The ride home today started a little slow, Billy on his TT weapon and me on the Specialized, I knew one of us was going to suffer but for once I wasn't so sure it was going to be me A totally excellent ride today, think I've almost got my hand up to go up to Tennant Creek next weekend and race in the Barkley challenge on behalf of AS cycling club. Its been almost 8 months since my last official race and I can feel its gotta happen, the guys are telling me about all the fun at Panthers and I'm really missing it, even if I would get spat out the back Lifes great on a bike The Sandman ![]()
Re: Sandmans Cycling BlogDunno Mike, its a 2 day event, day 1 is TT and crit, day 2 is Road Race.... Look for Barkley Challenge on google, not much info unfortunately so it will be "suck n see"

Re: Sandmans Cycling Blog![]() How awesome was this morning. BOM showed 2.4 with Apparent Temp of -2.4....Hatt road was way colder, pockets of pure ice I reckon I wish my FPR Buddies + BMXBandito were out here, I'd love to give them a race at zero temps Sandman de Iceblock ![]()
Re: Sandmans Cycling BlogWhat does FPR stand for? I've seen a lot of it in the signatures, sounds to me like it has to do something with HTFU'ing
I get hurt to make others pay
Re: Sandmans Cycling Blog
FPR = (F)oot (P)ath (R)acing , the M7 Tuesday night bunch When we first started on the M7 cycletrack, even before my time, Leximak and his cycling "harem" used to ride to Elizabeth Road and back to Sunnyholt road. it was just a bunch of Lycra Powered Power-Rangers out for a chat. Along comes the newbs like Zozza, Booga who upped the pace, more riding and less talking. Sandman comes for a few months and then BMXBandito administers some serious hurt to the bunch Since the idiot put wire across the track, the boys have had to be a little more cautious and I'm kinda surprised they arent packing 9mm Glocks to subdue any idiots they see stringing out the wire.. So it went from "Lolly gaggle" to HTFU to Serious HTFU to Caution.... FPRing is a great ride, if you get the chance, join the lads Sandman de Power Ranger ![]()
