Bob trailers - Touring Issues/Questions

Hi All,

I am considering doing some touring with a trailer but have a couple of questions that someone who has toured with a trailer might care to comment on.

Thie first is public transport. Getting onto a train with a trailer would probably be OK but what about a bus? And what about trying to hitch a ride if you have a mechanical problem that you can't fix? Anyone had problems getting a lift with a trailer?

The bike is hard to handle with the trailer attached and getting onto a train may require unhooking the trailer. Then you have 2 things to manhandle onto the train.

but what about a bus?

If it's a long distance bus, here in WA, the bike and trailer usually go in with the cargo if they have room.

And what about trying to hitch a ride if you have a mechanical problem that you can't fix?

Not that I've ever had this happen, but the trick is to hide the trailer and bike and come back for it later with the parts.
