Postby GingaNinja » Thu Mar 22, 2012 3:10 pm

Who has ridden on this trail. what was the surface like, given Margaret river to Cowarup is rail trail and the rest is former railway?
Does the former railway still have sleepers there, what is the rideability?

Hey Mate,

I have ridden on that trail (along with Ten Mile Brook, Chimney & Carters Rd Single Trail)
Its a very tame trail just compacted gravel the whole way up to Cowaramup.

You can check the elevation details here http://app.strava.com/activities/764831

Cheers Rob.

Sorry I mis-read your question....

There is some interesting (but dated) info here regarding the trail conditions ==>

http://www.amrshire.wa.gov.au/library/f ... 20Plan.pdf

It is going to be developed into a rail trail by Mulloway

http://mulloway.com/2012/03/busselton-t ... ail-trail/

Some more info here

http://www.amrshire.wa.gov.au/library/f ... 0Sheet.pdf

and here

I'm heading there on the weekend so i'm going to check out the stuff south of Gnarawary Rd, might bring some photos back.

Cheers Rob.

I was in Margs over the weekend so went and checked out Gnarawary Rd where the opened section of the Rail trail ends.

Facing the Current Trail.

Facing the other side of the road, here is a gravel cul-de-sack.

A couple of meters up from that and they have started rehabilitation on the area and there has been a heap of trees planted as far as the eye can see.
There is a faint compacted section that runs right thru them where the rail trail would have been.

Cheers Rob.
